The outcome blew her away. Mel backed down. Actually apologized. Told her, in front of the staff, he'd been a louse to say that it was her fault.
And, wonder of wonders, Mel Brunsworthy asked her out on a date.
Well, not a real date.
There was going to be an office function in two days. Would she go?
You bet she would.

All was forgiven.
All was forgotten.
This was her chance.
And she'd take it, and she'd shine.
Besides, nobody else was going to ask her.
