The teacher blabbered on with the lesson.

[Stupidmammon], [Y/N]'s childhood best friend, snored at the desk beside hers, mumbling words expressing his love for money.

(Wow. This in-game narrator, narrates anything, huh.)

"So i think i'll have one of you tell me the answer to the next question..."
The teacher looked around at the classroom for attentive eyes.

"...zzz...aww. you're makin me blush...zzz..."
[Stupidmammon] continued, completely in his own dream world.

"[Stupidmammon]!"
The teacher called, startling the once asleep [Stupidmammon], waking him up immediately.

"..Mm? Wha?"
[Stupidmammon] stood up immediately, wiping the drool off his face as he tried pretending to seem as though he had been awake the whole time.

"What is the answer to question number four?"

"Qu-question... uh, four? Uh... let's see, that would be um..."

"An adjectival clause,"
[Y/N] whispered to her oblivious partner.

[Stupidmammon] went with it, replying to the teacher's question.

"...correct. Were you listening to my lecture in your sleep? Well, you are a demon of many talents, i see. Very well. You may sit back down."
The teacher said, impressed.

[Stupidmammon] yawned as he sat down,
"That was close,"
And then, turning to [Y/N], he beamed,
"I only survived because of you! Thanks, [Y/N]!"
He whispered.

Mammon looked at you with widened eyes,
"Hm? What...did seein' the look on my face just now make you happy?"

You looked away from him, not answering his question.

"Hahaha! Come on it totally did! Well in that case,"
He popped his face back into your view,
"Look all you want. And so you know, you're the only person i'd ever say that to, understand?"
He smiled contently at you, like a satisfied child.

"Look back to the front before the teacher calls you again, and i'm not helping you this time."
You warned, hiding the smile that threatened to form on your lips.

Mammon cleared his throat and quickly turned his attention back to the board.
He couldn't stop the heat that rushed to his cheeks.

She should have seen her own face.

The demon laughed giddily to himself unable to hide the smile she put on his face.
