Chapter 38: Demon Slayers --A Mountain Of Hands--

"Okay we are onto our third viewing of the day, and that is the Demon Slayers viewing," said Mira.

"Awesome I wonder what we will see in this one," said Kaminari.

"Isn't it time for Tanjiro to go to the final selection test," said Koro-sensei.

"I believe is that time," said Ukai.

"I have to wonder what this final selection is all about," said Erina.

"You all are about to learn that in this viewing. So without farther ado let's start the viewing," said Mira.

[--A Mountain Of Hands--
'A demon's weak point is it's neck. However, when using a normal blade, even cutting it's neck won't kill it. The swords that the Demon Slayer corps use are made from a special steel. We call them Nichirin swords. Thanks to my training with Makomo...I've learned to smell out the "opening thread." That's how I won. When I'm fighting someone...and I find that scent, I see the thread. It runs from my blade...to a spot on my opponent and it goes taut the moment I see it. Guided by the thread my blade cuts into that spot,' thought Tanjiro.
"I did not intend to send you to final selection. I had no wish to see another child die. I didn't think you would split that boulder...but you did well. Tanjiro...you...are an amazing child," said Urokodaki.]

"I do have to agree with your teacher. You are an amazing kid," said Ukai.

"Thank you sir," said Tanjiro.

"I can't wait to see you in action," said Mina.

["Go to final selection...but be sure to return alive. Your sister and I are here waiting," said Urokodaki.
'After cutting my hair...Urokodaki gave me a mask. It's called a warding mask. Apparently, it offers protection from evil. I can't take Nezuko with me...she's still asleep. So I'm leaving her in Urokodaki's care,' thought Tanjiro.
"I'm on my way, Urokodaki. Give my best to Sabito and Makomo!" said Tanjiro.
"Tanjiro...how is it you...know the names of those deceased children?" said Urokodaki.]

"Wait so you got help with your training from two spirits," said Hakkai.

"Yes, that's right. But up until that point on the screen I had no idea," said Tanjiro.

[<Mount Fujikasane: Site of final selection>
'Wow! But Wisteria...shouldn't be blooming this time of year. Look how many there are!' thought Tanjiro.
"Greetings, everyone. Thank you for gathering tonight for final selection. Mount Fujikasane holds demons that demon-slayer swordsmen have taken alive and trapped here," said the first twin.
"Demons hate Wisteria flowers, which bloom here even out of season. They cover the mountain from it's foot to half way up the slope," said the second twin.
"However from that point on, the wisteria does now bloom. So the demons roam free. You must survive there for seven days," said first twin.
"If you do, then you will have passed final selection. Now go," said the second twin.]

"The challenge is to survive seven days on a mountain side while fighting demons," said Aizawa.

"I doubt that a lot of people will be surviving this test," said Riko.

"Same here," said Megumi.

["Hey! Hey! Get lost! I'm gonna eat this kid!"
"No, you get lost!"
'Two of them! Out of nowhere! Can I win?' thought Tanjiro.
"He's my meal!"
"Shut up!"
"The one who kills him first gets to eat him!"
"It's been so long since I tasted human flesh!"
'Total concentration...Water breathing! I smell the thread! Fourth form! Striking Tide!' thought Tanjiro.]

"Let's go that was awesome," said Kagami.

"So that's your breathing style," said Sanzu.

"Yes it is," said Tanjiro.

"How many forms does this style have," said Nezu.

"It has ten to eleven forms all together," said Giyu.

['I did it. I beat two demons! I've gotten stronger. All that training worked...I can do this! When I use the katana that Urokodaki gave me...even the bones crumble! Rest in peace! Ugh! What's that rotten smell?' thought Tanjiro.
"Waaah! There's a huge, deformed demon back there! I've never seen anything like it! Gyaaah!" yelled a competitor.
'Don't be afraid! Help him! I must help him! I'm not powerless anymore! Let's go! Water breathing second form: Water Wheel!' thought Tanjiro.
"Another of my dear...foxes has come!" said the hand demon.]

"And that is the end of this viewing," said Mira.

"What, no it was just getting good," said Sanzu.

"Sanzu calm down we'll see more tomorrow," said Bonten Mikey.

"That's correct. We'll take a ten-minute break and then watch the next Tokyo Revengers viewing," said Mira.
