Heartstrings In Dilemma

CHAPTER 26

"Even if fate beat me once,
I've got another chance now,
and this time I won't lose it,
even if I have to fight against fate itself."

As rain turned to leave the room, he heard phayu's voice, making him stop in his tracks. He turned around to look at phayu and saw him taking his hand out of Cherry's grasp.

When phayu saw rain turning to leave, his heart pounded in his chest. He couldn't bear to see Rain walk away, not when his presence stirred something deep within him, something he couldn't quite understand.

Phayu's mind was filled with mixed feelings. He felt guilty for letting Cherry hold his hand, sensing it wasn't right for some reason. And when he saw Rain's expression, a sudden memory flickered in his mind as if he had seen the same pain in rain's eyes before.

"Cherry, my head is pounding, I need some rest. We'll talk later." Phayu said pulling  his hand away from Cherry's grasp.

Cherry's eyes narrowed, her behavior changed immediately from a pity girl to icy as she clenched Phayu's hand tighter. "But Phayu, I've been trying to see you for days. I can't just leave now," she said, her frustration evident in his tone.

"Phayu needs rest, Cherry. Please, let him rest," Rain intervened, feeling irritated and almost ready to kick Cherry out, but something held him back.

"And who are you to tell me what to do? I know what my Phayu needs, so don't you dare tell me otherwise. You guys have already kept me away from Phayu for two whole days, and I won't let it happen again," Cherry spat, her words laced with venom.

"Moreover, mind your own business, Saifah is your boyfriend, not Phayu. So keep your attention on him only. I know very well what my Phayu needs," she continued, emphasizing the word "boyfriend" and wearing an innocent expression.

When Phayu heard the word "boyfriend," his head snapped towards Saifah with confusion in his mind and a heavy feeling settling down in his heart, he was feeling like the same thing happened before. Saifah's expression was unreadable, and Phayu's confusion only increased, many things have changed in one year and now he was feeling more irritated as he doesn't remember anything.

Then he turned to Rain, Phayu found him already looking back at him with an expression he couldn't quite understand. There was something unreadable in Rain's eyes, like a hint of pain hiding inside.

Meanwhile, Cherry's words echoed in Rain's mind, Rain felt like his heart was stuck in his throat. The familiarity of the situation hit him like a ton of bricks –The mention of "boyfriend" sent a shiver down his spine, once again, the first introduction Phayu had to him was as Saifah's boyfriend.

It felt like history repeating itself, and Rain couldn't shake the feeling of deja vu.Once again, he was nothing more than Saifah's boyfriend in Phayu's eyes, and the thought tore at his heartstrings.

But, This time rain wont let any misunderstanding come between them , so he tried to find the right word to break the suffocating atmosphere "Phayu, I..." he began. But before he could finish, Phayu's attention was drawn back to Cherry.

"Phayu, darling, don't listen to them. I'm here for you, always, I won't leave you alone, don't worry I will take care of you" Cherry said hiding his wicked smile, acting all innocent, but phayu had enough of everything. The word boyfriend was already bothering him so much.

"Will you please stop this Cherry, already I am having problem as I can't remember..."

Before phayu could complete his sentence saifah interrupted.
