"M-Mom-" Alex says as he hands the phone back to Ian. He quickly stands up from his squatting position and stumbles over to her, planting a kiss on her cheek.
Ian slouched down in the chair, adjusting his grip on the phone, completely unbothered as he played his little pixel game.
Alex mother grinned as he kissed her on the cheek. She was dressed casually, looking like any regular mom, but her clothes were loose to fit her big belly.
Her hair was short, curly, and brown, complemented by long lashes and deep brown eyes with a mole right below her right eye. Her skin had a rich, beautiful brown tone. Her name was Daniella Berry.
"So?" she asked, crossing her arms and raising her brow at him.
Her intense stare dug into Alex, making him panic and avoid eye contact. "Uh...Haha.." he chuckled nervously, unsure where to begin.
You know what's different about Alex compared to the rest of us? He has the most ordinary family ever. They have everything you'd expect in a loving, typical family. Sometimes, I'm jealous of him.
She leaned her hip, placing both hands on her hips. Her eyes drifted from Alex to us sitting nearby. Squinting a bit, she must've forgotten her glasses, but then her expression softened into a smile as she recognize us.
"Hello!" Her smile brightened, waving at us. "I haven't seen you both in months, I hope everything is okay and keeping my Alexander out of trouble and fed."
"Yeah, he's eating well alright. He's emptied out my entire fridge." Mya giggled.
Alex, standing just out of his mother's view, stuck up his middle finger, the corner of my lip curled. Daniella nodded in agreement, saying, "Yeah, he's a big eater...Maybe I should have glued his mouth shut when he was younger." She sigh, disappointed.
Alex looked unsure of what to say then she turned around suddenly, saying, "I really want some avocados."
"Avocados, avocados, avocados..." she breathed, repeating it as if she was in a trance.
"Mom?" Alex placed his hand on her shoulder, breaking her trance, "Yeah?"
"I want to cry, but I'm hungry," she pouted at Alex, clearly lost by how quickly her emotions were shifting due to her pregnancy.
Mya and I shifted our focus back to Elliot. Mya seem to have something on her mind, but she hesitates, not wanting to make things worse for him.
"Mama, come sit." Alex urges. She shakes her head, replying, "You're sister seems stuck in there. The doctor said she should move around to help, you know, pop out." she said, gesturing with her hands and pointing downwards.
She started stretches her body.
Elliot's mother looked over his shoulder and locked eyes with Mya. "Oh?" she murmured, then glanced away and whispered to Elliot, "Is that the girl you liked and turned down Melissa for?"
Mya heard this and perked up, glancing over at them, hoping to hear Elliot confess he liked her too. "No, it's not her," Elliot answered.
Disappointment fills Mya's eyes as she looks away, shifting uncomfortably in her seat. Elliot turns to glance at Mya, then at me. I shake my head in disappointment.
His mother hands shoot toward Elliot's face. He leans down to her height, holding onto her wrist. "Mother?" he stammers.
She scans his cheek where Samantha's father had punched him earlier. "I heard you got hurt, but on your face?!" she screams, as if her dreams were crushed.
