"BELLY IS GOING TO BE a debutante!"

Susannah walked across the kitchen as Rory quickly got up from the couch, both approaching Belly, who shrugged with a small smile, "It's not that big of a deal."

"It is! It is!" They two hugged her from either side, and Belly's timid smile turned into a full-blown grin, Laurel and Marie sharing a small smile at the three.

Rory gushed over her, pushing a strand of her hair behind her ear in a loving manner, "Oh this is going to be so fun."

"I'm sorry. Like, Belly?" Steven teased his sister, "Like, my sister? Like, that thing right there?"

"Shut up, cretin." Belly shot back making Rory laugh.

"Oh we need to start preparing, I need to write this down." Susannah rounded the kitchen island to find a spare piece of paper and a pen, "There is, uh... there's the tea, the auction, the rehearsal, and, of course, the ball."

She paused with another gasp, making Rory and Conrad share an amused look as she came back over to grab the mug she had pushed into his hand when she had gotten up excitedly.

"We should go shopping!" Rory re-entered the kitchen and took a seat beside Susannah on the oval-shaped table by the window.

"Oh my god, we need to do this all today!" Susannah reached forward to squeeze Rory's arm, "There's a tea tomorrow!"

Rory groaned, turning in her seat to face her mother, who stood with Theo by the pot of coffee, "Oh crap, Mom?"

"Hmm."

"I got an email this morning, and apparently I can't wear a T-shirt and shorts for this thing. I need to follow the country club dress code." Rory revealed, and Marie sent her a soft smile.

"You guys know what that means?" She asked excitedly as Belly came to sit next to Rory at the table. Marie walked behind Susannah and held her shoulders, the blonde women's smile widening, "I guess we're having a girls day!"

Belly and Rory giggled, Marie and Susannah's excitement rubbing off on them.

Laurel sighed, she was still at the island, and Theo had come back to stand across from her. "This sounds expensive," She added hesitantly.

"Oh, don't worry, Laur. It's on me." Susannah immediately replied, "It was my idea after all, and we still need to style you for your book party, so..."

"Belly, are you sure you want to do this?" Laurel asked, and Belly turned to face her mother, "It doesn't seem very you."

"It's not."

All eyes turned to the youngest Cooper, who looked up for a split second before going back to messing with something on the phone in his hand.

He could feel his mother's disappointed gaze, his sister's seething glare, and Belly's eyes watching his every move.

"Theo shut up." Rory shot back and the boy just shrugged. Marie gave Theo a look, and he put down his phone to face her.

"Could you please be more supportive?" His mother requested, but he didn't give her a reply.

Conrad had entered the room and was now standing next to him, and gave him a slight shove from the side, and when the boy looked over at him, Conrad shook his head.

Sure, the idea of a debutante ball sounded antiquated and boring, but he knew how much it meant for his mother and Rory, and from the looks of it Belly seemed to genuinely want to have a deb season, so he would try to support Rory and Belly in any way they needed.
