He gazes into my eyes lovingly. I had meant every word though. If I had experienced all of these moments in life, it never would have been with Demetrius. It would have been some random stranger since I wasn't even born yet when he died. Looking at things from a new perspective, I guess everything happens for a reason.
Sure, a small piece of me wishes I had been born in his time or, that he had been born in mine. In reality, it doesn't really matter anymore since we both died at the same age despite dying in completely different decades. If there was anything good that ever came from me being in Hell... it was him. That was enough for a place of pain and torment to be my own paradise. I was smiling at Demetrius in a daze until my stomach suddenly ruined the moment.
I start to feel a lump rise up into my throat and I abruptly cover my mouth with my hand and scramble to my feet. Demetrius looks at me with worried expression on his face. "Uh, excuse me for a moment." I then sprint past Carlton who was carrying our Chicken Parmesan orders to our table. He turns back and looks at me with a confused expression on his face before shrugging it off.
I get to the bathroom and run to the near stall closing the door behind me and vomit everything I had for lunch earlier that day. After hurling to the point of being breathless, I climb to my feet and flush the toilet. I walk out of the stall sluggishly and stand in front of a mirror. I turn the sink on and splash a bit of water on my face and freshen up my makeup. I then see the Grail appear in the mirror and her brown eyes narrowed down at me with concern.
'Should I tell you what's going on with your body or would you like to find out on your own?' I scoff at her, "what kind of question is that?" She shrugs her shoulders, 'well I am a celestial being occupying your body and while I'm not supposed to interfere with the free will of humans I was never told that I can't tell you what the future holds.' I roll my eyes at her don't bother, I'm sure whatever it is, it's only temporary. She throws her hands up at me before disappearing, "alright, suit yourself then."
I open the door and leave the restroom and head back to the table. Demetrius looked up at me. It was obvious that he was still worried about me so I try to give him a smile to put him at ease. It seems to work only a little bit. I get to the table and sit down in front of him and immediately begin digging into my food as if I haven't eaten all day.
I could see the sweat trickling down his forehead as he nervously scratched at the back of his head and his cheeks burned red, "um... honey.... Are you sure you're okay?" I look up from my food for a second and wipe the sauce from my face with a napkin. "Yeah, I'm okay, why?" He looks down awkwardly, "well, uh... you don't think... maybe you're.... No, no, never mind, you couldn't be, right?" I swallow my food back aggressively and quickly drink down my beverage.
"I couldn't be what?" He avoids making eye contact with me and moves his mouth to speak before I interrupt him knowing already what he's going to say, "oh no. No. No! You said sinners couldn't get pregnant!"
