Chapter 40: Holding You, Holding Me

            I wake up the next morning and realize that I slept in Demetrius's room last night. I smile and let out a sigh of relief glad that everything that happened last night wasn't a dream after all and that Husk was back. I place a hand up to Demetrius's forehead and run my fingers up through his hair moving the few strands of his hair away from his eyebrows. He stirs gently before letting out a groan and stretching his arms before sitting up and looking around the room and then back at me. "So... it wasn't a dream then?

          Dad's really alive? He's back?" I lean over and pull his lips to mine and kiss him sweetly, "yes, baby. He's really here." He smiles back at me and places his hand underneath my chin and gently lifts my face up and tenderly kisses me on the lips.

           He presses his forehead against mine and closes his eyes, "I'm so sorry baby." I lean my head back to look into his eyes, "for what?" He lets out a sigh, "for shutting you out these past few days and for being distant." I wrap one of my arms around his neck and hold the back of his head in my hand. "You don't have to apologize, Mahal ko.

         You were grieving so I understand that you needed some space to figure things out. He smiles at me and kisses my cheek before cupping the side of my face in his hand, "how did I ever get so lucky to find a woman like you?" I smile and gaze into his eyes, "because we were made for each other." I kiss his lips and climb out of bed, "come on, I got a surprise that I want to show you." He grins and climbs across the bed and wraps his arms around me from behind making me squeal and giggle at the same time.

        "What kind of surprise?" He asks me seductively. I laugh and turn to face him, "not that kind." He raises his eyebrow in confusion. I roll my eyes and smile before taking him by the hand and guiding him to the door.

         "Come on, it's in my room." He smiles curiously and follows me to the door. I open it and close it behind me and then take the key to my room and open it. We walk in and I close the door behind us. Demetrius walks over and sits on my bed and I grab the chest from my closet and pull it down.

          I walk over to my dresser and grab the key that goes to it and walk over to the bed where Demetrius is sitting. He looks at me curiously and confused at the same time. I smile at him and take his hand in mine. With my other hand I put the key in the lock and unlock the box and turn it to face him. He smiles and slowly lifts up the lid.

         He takes out the test in his hand and examines it closely before dropping it back into the box and looking up at me. "Is... is this real?" I nod my head and chuckle lightly, "yes, it's real. I'm pregnant with your baby." He takes the chest and places it on the bed and takes me into his arms.

         He kisses me on the lips passionately and chuckles, "I couldn't have asked for a better partner to be the mother of my child." I smile up at him, "so... you're happy then?" He cups my cheek in his hand and kisses me again, "this is the happiest day of my life and afterlife combined." I wrap my arms around him and pull him into my embrace. "Oh, Daniel!

          I'm so happy and excited! I can't believe we're going to be parents!" He pulls me up to sit in his lap and wraps his arms loosely around my waist. "Have you made an appointment to see a doctor yet?" I nod, "yes, and ironically it's just in a couple of hours from now."

         "I'm coming with you," he says placing a hand on my leg. I chuckle, "well that's kind of the whole idea, silly." He wraps his arms around me and lowers me down to the bed kissing my lips. I giggle giddily as he slides down and lifts up my shirt to reveal my belly and kisses it. He nuzzles in close to my stomach and purrs against it before laying his head down against my belly and closing his eyes.

         I smile and run my fingers through his hair. He purrs softly in response. I chuckle lightly, "I can already tell that you're going to be an amazing daddy." He sits up and leans over me smiling while rubbing his hand gently across my belly. "You really think so?"

          I smile, "I know so. I mean, you're already obsessed with my belly and I'm not even showing yet." He laughs and kisses me on the head, "well, you're carrying my whole world in there!" My eyes well up with tears of joy. 🥹 "Awww, baby!

        You're gonna give me a cavity with all this sweetness." He laughs at my lame joke and kisses my lips. Just then, I begin to feel a familiar urge rumbling throughout my stomach. I cover my mouth instantly and jump off the bed and sprint to the bathroom. Demetrius walks in behind me.

        I'm leaning over the toilet vomiting and he gently takes my hair in his hands and holds it back so I don't get throw up on it. I groan when I finish and wipe my mouth off with some toilet paper before flushing the toilet. He takes my hands and helps me stand to my feet. I brush past him and walk over to the sink and wash my hands before splashing my face with water. "I'm assuming this is normal?"

         He asks looking concerned. I turn around and smile up at him sweetly and wrap my arms around his waist. He hugs me in close and kisses me on top of my head. "It's just morning sickness, Sweetie. It'll slow up once I get further along in my pregnancy." 🤰

         He sighs with relief and takes me by the hand and leads me back to bed. I lay my head down on the pillow and let out a long yawn as he sits down on the bed beside me and runs his fingers through my hair. I smile and close my eyes in response to his affection. He takes one of my throw blankets and drapes it over me and kisses me on the head. "I think you should get some rest,  Honey."

         I yawn again and nuzzle my face into my pillow. He lays down beside me and wraps his arm around me after placing a kiss on my forehead. He leans over and whispers softly in my ear, "I love you, Isabella Sparks." I let out a sigh and smile with my eyes closed before mumbling, "I love you too, Daniel Huskerton Jr."
