Chapter 34: Protectors

Several days later...
          Tonight is the night of our special co operation to get rid of my human mother whom in Hell is infamously known as, "Ditzy Diva." I'm not too fond of having to kill my own mother twice but according to what I've been told she's even worse now than she was in life which is really saying something. Demetrius, Husk, Angel and I were all waiting out in the car for Blitzo's signal. I know you're all probably wondering, 'how in the Hell did she manage to get inside of a vehicle with all of the trauma she faces as a result of dying in a car accident?' Well, you'll all be happy to know that Demetrius and I have been trying hard for several days leading up to this mission to get me used to being in a car again and while the whole experience has been nothing but sheer terror for me in the beginning, I now can say that I'm at least comfortable enough to ride in a vehicle as long as Demetrius is with me. 

Sure, I still have a long ways to go before I've fully conquered my fear once and for all but, I guess we just have to take our victories where we can get them. "Are you sure that this is a good plan, Husky?" Angel says looking over to Husk whilst shaking his leg anxiously. "Honestly, it's the best plan that we've got. According to Alastor, Vox and Ditzy don't really interact with one another unless there are propositions being made.

Being that she has her own supply of mind controlled slaves, she usually doesn't have much need to be involved with the V's. That is, until Vox recruited her to take Valentino's place. Now, she's bringing her whole shitty business here and getting free advertising with her talk show." Demetrius chimes in from the seat next to me while holding my hand, "yeah, I heard that she's planning to broadcast her mind control powers through her talk show which is a pretty direct challenge to higher ranking people in Hell." Angel shrugs his shoulders as he loads one of his Tommy guns and cocks it, "Well, then I guess it's a good thing that Blitzo was able to convince Stolas to come along."

Husk gazes at his partner and smiles sweetly and leans across the seat and kisses him on the cheek, "well honestly, that's all thanks to you, Caro. You are the one that gave Blitzo, Gracie and Dr. Frankenstein's business cards. Ever since he's been coming to the hotel for weekly appointments, it's really made a positive impact on their relationship." Angel blushes in response to this and not long after we see Blitzo hiding in the corner giving us the signal. "Alright everybody, that's the signal.

Time to roll out." Husk says opening the door to the car and jumping out. Angel, Demetrius and I follow behind Husk. We get into a military formation that Carlton and Husk taught to everyone at the hotel and move in synchrony. Once we move into position, we wait for Husk to give us the signal to move in. Husk signals over to Charlie and Vaggie and they get into position.

Husk leans into his earpiece and speaks, "is Omega A in position?" He nods his head assuming that Loona is able to see him from the cameras. Charlie and Vaggie make their way over to their position.  Our team waits at one of the side entrances for Loona to tell Husk when it's safe to enter. A few minutes later, Husk replies to his earpiece, "Copy that, LoneWolf."

He then gives us the signal to move in. We move into the building being very careful to stay quiet and stealth. 🥷 We make haste down the hallway until we reach the end of it. A few minutes later, Husk gives us the signal to move forward after speaking into his earpiece again, "Roger Dodger, LoneWolf." After we get to our next position Husk slaps a hand to his head before groaning in frustration under his breath, "Stick to the Codenames, BJ69.

The whole reason why we decided to use Codenames was to protect our identities in case Vox was able to tap into the voice feeds."Off of the voice feed Husk groans, "I swear to God this guy is going to jeopardize our entire mission!" Within a few minutes we pause and look left and right to ensure the coast is clear and then we were free to enter. We walk down about halfway down the hall only feet away from the meeting room that Vox, Velvette and Ditzy Diva before stopping abruptly in our tracks. Making sure his microphone is off Husk curses under his breath, "oh fuck!"

Angel whispers in a hushed tone, "what? What happened, Husker?" Husk sighs, "Ditzy isn't where she was supposed to be so Blitzo and his team have been spotted." We all let out an exasperated sigh. Angel grabs at the back of his hair,"Damn it!

I knew this wasn't going to work!" "Copy that, LoneWolf." Husk says into his microphone. Husk turns his head back towards us still staying in position, "alright team, operation Delta Victor, Victor has failed so now we are implementing operation Alpha Bravo Sierra."  "Yes!"

Demetrius exclaims in a hushed whisper. Everyone turns their heads to him and looks at him with either judgment or disapproval. "What? We knew it was going to all come down to this eventually anyways, might as well go out with a bang!" I roll my eyes at him and playfully smack him on the shoulder, "Gosh, you're such a child!"

Husk looks back at us and his face is a sickly pale color. Angel tosses his weapon across his shoulder and tries to give Husk a shake, "Husker... talk to us, what's going on?"He looks at him with sheer panic, "Vox and Ditzy have tapped into our feeds and are shutting Loona down!" "Oh Fuck!" Angel exclaims throwing his hands up to his face.

I begin to suddenly feel light headed and dizzy. Anticipating my impending lack of consciousness, I give Demetrius my weapon who gives it to Angel. Demetrius catches me before I collapse to the floor, "Jessie, Jess—, Isabella! What's wrong? What's happening?"

Demetrius asks me in a panic trying to tilt my head up to look into my eyes. It was obvious that he was scared for me but I wasn't. I knew that the Grail was about to take over my body. I move my lips to explain, but all I manage to utter out is, "D— Daniel—," before falling into unconsciousness. Everything went black.
