Somewhere in the north of Tokyo, January 2000.
"Bow down, this is Gojo Satoru, the illustrious heir to the Power of Infinity and the Sixth Eye."
Utahime, a bit nervous, prostrating herself solemnly against the icy ground. She did not dare raise her eyes by fear of meeting the gaze of this boy, two years younger than her, who was at the origin of the imbalance of the entire universe. However, she had long heard about this boy with hair as white as snow who inherited the most powerful abilities of the Gojo's clan. She never thought she would one day meet him, at least not like that.
"I am Iori Utahime. Nice to meet you. " Pronounced the young girl in a voice that wanted to be assured.
She still didn't dare to get up by fear of breaking the etiquette. She knew her rank. Her parents had often reminded her before arriving here. She was just an exorcist from a somehow unknown family of Kyoto. Her family belonged to an ancient shaman family, for at least five century, but over the years, they lost most of their occult abilities. Nowadays, only Utahime and her grandmother had some occult energy left.
This year, Utahime was selected by the Gojo clan as a ward.
Every year the Gojo family selected a child from an exorcist family throughout Japan to help them financially, and especially by allowing them to attend the Exorcist high school of Tokyo. In return, the child had to serve the Gojo family for three years.
In front of her stood not only Gojo Satoru, but also his uncle and his aunt.
The air in the house was freezing. We were in the beginning of January. The house atmosphere was far from being warm and cozy like in her homein Kyoto. She was in a very ancient Japanese-style house which was surrounded by a huge bamboo forest. The night before a thin layer of snow had covered the entire property, giving a dreamlike feeling to this odd place. Long corridors crisscrossed the numerous rooms. The corridors were completely closed by thin wooden partitions, which unfortunately did not prevent the cold from penetrating.
"You can get up now." hissed a voice whose origin could not be clearly distinguished.
Slowly Utahime got up and was about to get back into the rows, when she met the azure-colored gaze of the young Gojo, unintentionally. She felt her entire being freeze in one second. She was being dragged into the blue immensity of the boy's eyes. Her heart raced. Her breating became irregular. She felt like disconnecting with the entire world ; she could only see him and no one else.
A maid burst in and came forward to bow. Utahime quickly pull herself together and lined up between the rows, as discreetly as possible. It was not good to stand out, especially from the first day.
Before arriving here, she had heard many terrible stories about the Gojo clan. Many people told her that several servants had been assaulted by members of the Gojo family for very trivial matters, and some even died in strange circumstances. Rumors were rife about the Gojo family.
To tell the truth, Utahime would have preferred to stay with her parents in the peaceful countryside of Kyoto where she grew up. Unfortunately, how could she have declined such an offer, which everyone considered as a true blessing...?
Being able to take classes at the prestigious Tokyo high school was a godsend gift for all exorcists. It was well known that the Tokyo Exorcist High School was the gateway to a secure future. Indeed, run by the most powerful clans, this school allowed their students to integrate the best universities as the best companies of the country. Blinded by the personal success of their own children, many parents preferred to turn a blind eye to the abuses perpetuated by this illustrious clan.
