"Wait..Wait Lia" I said and she hung up the phone.
I ran my fingers through my hair pissed. I put my phone down on the desk and downed my drink.
"Hey I brought you something to eat that isn't alcohol" Tyler came into the office and he looked at me. "What happened?"
"Lia called me."I said
"What did she say?" He asked
"She didn't say anything almost as if she was hiding. She was crying man. She sounded so scared and all I can do is sit here while she goes through that." I said putting my head in my hands
"How are you sure that it was her?" He asked
"I know it was her." I said
"Don't worry. We're meeting with the Miranda girl tomorrow and then we'll find Nic and then her." Tyler said
"What if that's too much time? She sounded like she was hurting Tyler." I said "I want to kill that bastard from taking her from me. Once I get my hands on him, it'll take the police to peel me off of him."
"Relax man. You going to prison won't get her in your arms any sooner." He said
"What if..what if he touches her. He told me some disgusting things and I- what if she can't fight him off. He takes advantage of her to spite me for what I did. The things I said to him." I said
"No don't go down that path. Listen, you need to stay out of your head Cam." He said
"That's easier said than done." I said
-----
We waited in the car across the street as Brandon went into the coffee shop. He hugged Miranda and they went outside and sat at a table outside like we instructed him.
"I don't understand why we can't just go talk to her" I said
"Because you don't know how to just talk." Tyler said
We saw Miranda looked around her and she stood up. Brandon must've said something wrong.
"Wait" Tyler said as my hand held the door handle
Miranda dashed off and I shot out the car running across the street almost getting hit by a car might I add but she was the only lead we had. I made it to her and grabbed her arm slamming her into the side of the building.
"We meet again" I said to her and she had fear in her eyes
"Let me go" She said and struggled in my grip "Help" she yelled to the people walking by. I grabbed her arm and dragged her to the car. Brandon caught up to us and we made it across the street.
"What are you doing?" Brandon asked
"You set me up?" Miranda asked him
"I'm sorry-"
"Go home Brandon" I said throwing her in the backseat of the car
"You said you won't hurt her." He said
"Doesn't mean I won't hurt you." I said getting in his face. My anger was rising.
"I'm coming" He said grabbing the backseat door. I stepped in front of him.
"You're not." I said pulling my gun out and putting it to his head
"Camm" Tyler sung like I was a child "Lia won't like that"
Brandon stood there and I could see the fear in his eyes.
"Why are you doing all this? What do you get out of this? You think this is going to make her love you back?" I asked him
He shook his head. "No. I've made peace that she loves you for whatever reason that is. She chose you. I'm fine with that. She's my best friend and I can't stand by while she's in pain. She used to have nightmares about him coming back to get her. She just got over them around the time she met you. He put her in a bad place Cameron and the longer she's there the harder it will be to recognize her when you get her back. Please just let me help." He said
I stared at him and put the gun away. "Get in the back and make sure she doesn't do anything stupid" I said
I got in the passenger seat and Brandon got in the back. Tyler drove off.
"He took her?" Miranda asked looking at Brandon and he nodded
"He said that he just wanted to talk to her. To apologize." She said then put her head in her hands "Oh God what did I do?"
"Elijah?" Brandon asked and she nodded crying
"Eli contacted me after he got out of prison and told he that he was over her. That he wanted to see where things could go with me and him. I believed him like an idiot. I asked him if he was going to Cats party and he said he can't because Cameron would flip if he knew he was there, but he had a friend attending and asked me to help sneak him in so he could speak to Lia on his behalf. Tell her that Eli was sorry. I asked him for what and he said to not worry about it. I swear I never knew the extent of their relationship. I just knew that he was obsessed with her and I wanted him to look at me the way he does her. I'm an idiot." she cried
"You are" I muttered and Tyler elbowed me
"Hey no you're not" Brandon said "What was the plan with Nic? Do you know how to contact him or where he lives?"
"He said his friend Nic would meet me at the party at a certain time and I had to just distract the guards that was it and get her to go speak with Nic. And all I know is that Nic runs in the same circles as Eli. He said Nic owed him a favor. He was helping him out." She said
"What circles does Nic run in?" I asked her
"I don't know." She said
"So you're useless" I said looking out the window and Tyler glared at me
"Pardon his manners sweetheart. His girlfriend is missing and so seems to be his manners. You have no clue where Elijah maybe hung out after his release or did he give any other information about Nic?" Tyler asked
"Eli said that him and Nic went way back. I'm not sure if that helps." She said
I groaned. "Pull over" I said to Tyler and he did.
"Get out" I said to her
"Wait." Brandon said "Way back. Is Nic is first name? Or is it short for something?"
"Actually he called him Dominic the first time he spoke about him." Miranda said
I turned around to look at her.
"And you didn't think that was worth mentioning?" I glared at her"Do you guys have a photo of the guy?" Brandon asked and I pulled my phone out with the photo showing him
"Dominic Petrov, we went to school with him. I can't believe I didn't recognize him at first. What ties could he have?"I looked over at Tyler as the thought connected at the same time. We both looked at each other and muttered.
"Fuck"
