Taehyung blinked awake at the sound of pots clanging in the kitchen.
He slowly got up, careful not to wake the sleeping girl from the couch as he approached the kitchen, staggering here and there as the sleep hadn't fully worn off yet.
But upon entering the kitchen, he could do no more than simply stare at the scene in front of him.
"What's going on?"
His mom, step-father, Rosé, and Jimin were currently packed in the kitchen, both kids dusted in flour as the room smelt of vanilla and cinnamon.
"Oh you're awake!" His mom smiled brightly as she put the pan in her hand back down onto the stove.
"Well finally." Jimin smiled with a teasing note to his voice as his step father only smiled at him before returning to the stovetop.
"Again, what's going on?" He repeated as he still didn't understand what everyone was doing in the kitchen in place of their usual kitchen staff, and more so what his parents were doing back already.
"They came home today morning. You slept right through it, thanks to someone." Rosé grinned as the former cleared his throat, hiding the embarrassed blush that threatened to creep up on him.
"We decided to make pancakes!" His mom cut in, smile still bright as she set down a new one on a plate.
"Looks like a battlefield here," Taehyung commented, observing the flour-covered countertops and the splotches of batter that seemed to have found their way onto every available surface, including his sister and Jimin.
"It's a special occasion," his stepfather chimed in, flipping a pancake with a skill that suggested he'd done this many times before.
"Your mother and I thought it would be nice to come back early and spend some time with you kids." He continued to explain, passing off one of the now done plates onto the island countertop.
"We've missed you all so much." Taehyung's mother approached him, wiping her hands on her apron before enveloping him in a hug.
"I missed you too mom. How was Mexico?" He asked, remembering they had been there most recently.
"It was really nice. Quite hot, but nice nonetheless." She replied with a smile.
Jimin, ever the opportunist, seized the moment to steer the conversation back to food.
"Speaking of celebrations, who's going to feed me? I'm wasting away here," he joked, though his eyes were already scanning for the nearest pancake.
"Don't eat them all, we have Jennie to feed too." Rosé rolled her eyes but passed him a plate stacked with pancakes, the corners of her mouth twitching upwards.
Taehyung's smile softened at the mention of her name.
"Speaking of which," He began, glancing back towards the living room where she was still asleep. "I'll go wake her up. She shouldn't miss out on this."
