"Alright Y/N. We get it. You're an ODM prodigy." I hear Porco yell from beneath me. It's my last training session today and Porco and Pieck wanted to come check out my new talent.

Reiner and I have been training tirelessly everyday to try and make me as skilled as possible just in case I need to use the ODM gear in battle. "You're just jealous!" I yell to him and I fly through the air. It's been a long time since doing any battle training and I have honestly missed it more than I thought I would.

Magath, of course caught wind of what happened during our first day of training. So he has ordered a soldier to keep an eye on our training sessions to make sure they're as productive as possible. I guess I don't blame him. They're sending me into enemy territory with no titan power, 7 days of ODM training is all I get so I need to make the most of it.

I swing down to where Porco and Pieck are standing. I haven't felt this way in so long, my heart is pumping with adrenaline and I feel like I could take on a thousand titans all at once. I can't stifle the smile that has spread across my face.

"Nice moves, kid." I look around and Reiner is walking towards the three of us.

Porco scoffs. "You really think she is ready to go to battle with that stuff?"

I look to Reiner. I know I can handle the maneuvering in the gear but combat is a completely different ball game. I can hold my own in hand to hand combat on the ground, but in the air? I guess we'll see. "We don't really have much of a choice on the matter. They leave tomorrow."

I roll my eyes and Pieck giggles from beside me. "Thanks for the vote of confidence." I tease.

"Once things get hairy, we don't know what it's going to be like. It's not going to be like when you and I spar with the gear. They will be gunning for you, and they will kill you if you're not careful." Reiner says seriously. I furrow my brow. "I know that." Reiner cuts me off.

"Do you? I trained with them, fought alongside them as their comrade. I know how skilled they are. You need to be weary, this is war, not a game."

My lips part but I don't have anything to say. I am surprised by Reiners sudden shift in attitude. All week he's been hyping me up, telling me how naturally talented I am with the gear. But now, right before we're supposed to leave he suddenly has an issue with it all.

"Ease up Reiner." Pieck adds. "We'll only be there for 2 days before you guys join us. It's going to fine." "Let's hope so." Reiner adds.

...

A few hours later, we're all sitting around the kitchen table at my house. My dad is once again at work so I decided we should have one last supper before we head to Paradis. Reiner has seemed to have calm down somewhat, he's not as abrasive but he seems a little on edge still. Pieck and Porco are laughing about an old story about Marcel and Pock when they were kids, and I take the opportunity to breathe in this moment.

This could very well be the last time we're all together and not under imminent threat of death. I drink in Porcos voice and laugh, I admire Piecks beautiful black hair and the way she looks at Porco. I shift my eyes and look at Reiner just to see he's already looking at me. His gaze softens when we lock eyes, I smile softly at him but am pulled out of my trance when Porco opens his mouth.

"If you guys are going to eye fuck each other like that you might as well go upstairs." He teases.

"Pock!" Pieck yells from beside him. "What?? We were both thinking it." He says under a smirk before taking a swig of the beer in front of him.
