To the Death?

I force myself up and push past the short haired kid to get to who is standing infront of me. Reiner locks eyes with me and drops the sticks that he was carrying.

"What the FUCK were you thinking?!" I yell. I push at his chest and he steps back, surprise written on his face. "Do you have a god damned death wish?" I feel the angry tears pool in my eyes.

"Y/N what are you talking about?" Reiner sputters out. I can't believe he would even ask that.

"You just laid there and took it! I thought you were a big tough titan, Marley's shield! Reiner fucking Braun! And you quit!" The tears are now streaking down my cheeks. I can taste the saltiness of them as they run down into my mouth.

"I was right there. Didn't you see me?! Didn't you care?!" I'm sure everyone is staring at us right now but I don't care.

"Y/N I-." I cut him off.

"You were going to let yourself die. You were going to leave me, again! You made me fall in love with you, and you were going to leave!" I suck in a sharp breath.

I try to calm myself down but I can feel myself starting to hyperventilate. Reiner takes me in his arms and I let him. "Did you not hear me?" I asked in a choked sob. "I was yelling for you to fight. To please fight. And - you just stopped."

Reiner tightens his arms around me and I can feel my breathing start to slow down. "I'm so sorry." I hear him say into my hair. "I'm so so sorry."

I press my forehead into his chest. "I thought you were dead." I admit. "I was so scared." Reiner cups my face and lifts it so I can see him. "I'm right here." I place my hands on his arms and analyze his face, as if to make sure everything is still there.

"You're a god damned idiot Reiner Braun." I squeak out to him. He cups my face and his lips connect with mine. Suddenly my feelings of anger float away and my tears are now from pure relief.

"Why am I not surprised?" I hear someone say from behind us.

My whole body tenses up. A voice I haven't heard for 9 years. A voice I thought I would never hear again. I drop my hands from Reiners arms and turn around slowly.

"Annie?" I am too stunned to move. My body is frozen in place while I watch Annie walk towards me. "You got old." She remarks.

A shocked laugh shoots out of my throat and I pull her into the tightest hug I can manage.

"Y/N. you're crushing me." She says. "I don't care. I don't care." I reply back.

Once I release her from my grip I push back from her and look at her face. "You seriously couldn't think of any other hairstyle?" I tease. "Shove it." She retorts. I notice a small streak of dampness on her cheek. "Annie Leonhart! You weren't crying were you?" I say. "I told you not to get soft on me."

Annie rolls her eyes. "I have a reputation to uphold. Shut up." We turn back to face the rest of the group who are trying hard to make it look like they're not listening.

"Dinners ready!" Hange announces.

I walk back over to the fire and take a seat against Pieck and in between Reiner and Annie. It's awkward. There's a lot of tension on this group of people, but I catch Annie and the blonde boy, whose name I learned is Armin, exchanging looks every now and then.

Magath opens his mouth. "Out of curiosity, what made you change your mind? If you'd let Eren Jaeger succeed, you'll be getting far more than you could ever hope for. You island devils will have the world to yourself." I accidentally roll my eyes at the term. I think we're past that at this point. Hange speaks up. "I'm only repeating what I already told you general, but nobody here wants to be an accessory to genocide."
