***Victoria's POV***

"Bryce?!" I say, half scared that I've gone completely crazy.

"Hi, Tori!" He says, running up and jumping into my arms. I hug him tight and he wraps his little arms around my neck.

"You saved him!" I say to Johnny. I look at his beautiful brown eyes. "I can't thank you enough."

"You're welcome. I'm always here," he says and wraps an arm around my shoulder.

"Will you please come home? You have a clean plate with the police right now, they're calling it self-defense," I say. Bryce nods eagerly and Johnny nods as well. I shift Bryce to my hip and Johnny takes my hand.

We make our way to the train station about 3 miles from the church, and make it in time to catch the next train. We all hop on and hide from the guards. It's decently late, so Bryce falls asleep on my lap. Before I know it, I've fallen asleep myself.

***Johnny's POV***

Bryce fell asleep soon after we boarded the train. Victoria began to slip between the fabrics of reality herself. Soon, she too was asleep. She leans against my shoulder as she sleeps. My hand finds a place around her waist and I pull her into me.

This is amazing. 3 years, 3 freaking years that I've dreamed of this. All I've wanted is for Victoria to be mine. And I would call this a step in the right direction.

When the train stops, I wake up Victoria so she can walk while I carry Bryce. We walk silently down the streets and head for the Curtis house.

The gang probably thinks we're dead. And hell, it's a big chance coming back after killing a Soc. But I can't stand being away from the only people that matter to me anymore, especially Bailey.

I enter the Curtis's street. Victoria slips her fingers in between mine as we walk. I reach the Curtis house and listen.

I hear tears and low voices.

"I can't believe Bryce and Victoria are gone!" a girl I don't know says.

"Lauren, it's OK!" I hear Darry say.

"THEY AREN'T DEAD!" Dally says angrily.

"Yes they are, Dal," Ponyboy says in an irritated tone. I guess they were all in for a treat.

I knock on the door, a little bit nervous.

"I bet that's Johnny, Victoria, and Bryce right there!" Dally says matter-of-factly. I can hear everyone roll their eyes. Someone gets up and comes to the door.

When Soda opens the door, he was so surprised you could have thought it was Elvis Presley himself standing there. He doesn't say anything for a little while. When he does, it isn't steady.

"For God's sake Soda, who's at the door?" Darry asks.

"Uh, Dal, you were right, it's them."

"What?" I see Dally get up and turn. When he sees me he stops and his mouth drops to the floor.

"Johnny, is that really you?" he asks. I nod.

"Not to barge in or anything, but can we come in?" I ask.

"We?" The girl I don't know asks. I pull Victoria inside. The girl stands.

"Bryce! Victoria!" She yells. I see Bryce open his eyes.

The second I set Bryce down, he runs over to her and she picks him up. Victoria nuzzles deeper into my shoulder.

"You found them!" The girl I don't know says happily. I guess I give her a weird look because Darry steps in.

"This is Lauren, Victoria and Bryce's older sister," Darry says. I nod in understanding.

"I can't thank you enough," she says.

"No problem. Dar, could we crash somewhere for the night?" I ask.

Darry nods and I slowly lead Victoria upstairs. I bring her into the bathroom and run a warm bath for her, not only to clean her but to comfort her just a little bit.

I help her in, still with her clothes on so those can be washed off too. I rinse her hair softly and rub soap against her skin. The bath water turns a dark color from all the ash.

When I finish, I open the drain and help her out. I carefully unbutton her shirt and pants for her so she can warm up, and wrap a towel around her.

We find an empty room. I run to grab some clothes I'd left here from previous nights and return to her. I find her sitting at the foot of the bed.

"I brought you some clothes," I say and hand her a flannel and a pair of Bailey's sleeping shorts. She smiles tiredly and dresses as I change into sleeping clothes too.

"Are you okay with us sleeping in the same bed?" I ask her.

"Yeah, I could use someone else in the bed tonight," she says softly.

She crawls into bed and I follow close behind, her taking the right side and me taking the left.

"Thank you," she whispers as she moves closer to me.

"Of course," I reply as she snuggles herself into me and falls asleep.

I wrap an arm around her waist and begin to dose off too, my mind wandering to Bailey. I wonder where she is, and I really hope she's okay. She must have just already gone to bed, right?
