Happy Reading!
Abhishek's POV:
"Mr Mehra it's a pleasure working with you" the client said I have him a curt nod.
After he left I got engrossed in work. I checked my phone and there were 5 missed calls from mom. Fuck it's 11.30 already.
I sigh and rub my face with my hands. My eyes find her photo and I smile. Taking it I caress it and kiss it. Putting it down I take my coat and leave for home and I text mom informing the same.
After Arohi left, mom and everyone me to sift to Mehra Mansion. Even I couldn't live there anymore without her. She is the one who made it home. After she left it was just a house with brick and walls. That house felt haunted without her. Ritika also left the home and shifted in her friend's apartment. Though every now and then she comes to meet us all.
But today I was in no mood to go there. I want to go home and be near my wife. I reached there and the house felt empty. All the events of that day again flashed in front of my eyes. Sighing I take out whiskey.
"Oh God atleast change clothes you stink Mr. Mehra"
"Not my problem that you have OCD wifey" I turn around chuckling and no she was not there. It was just me hallucinating her, just like I always do when I come here.
I take a shuddered breath and chug down the alcohol. In these 4 years my alcohol tolerance level has increased so much. Because I can't sleep without alcohol in my system. Whenever I tried to sleep, those memories haunted me. The look in her eyes haunted me.
I'm not angry at her. I'm just disappointed at her that she chose to leave rather than fight for us. Just like always she could have fought with me, slapped me, or whatever she wanted, but shouldn't have ghosted me. I don't blame her though. The situation was to be blamed.
I tried. I tried to trace her down but everytime her note came in front of my eyes. The pain she felt being with me kept me from finding her. Each city I go my eyes always search her but I'm always met with failure.
"Where are you Aru, please come back to me" I closed my eyes and her smiling face came in front of me making me smile.
Taking the bottle I go upstairs to her room. The room in which she lived earlier. This is the room that most feels like her. I kept everything as it was not moving and inch because my wife doesn't like it.
I sit on her bed and somewhere a little I feel at peace.
Flashback
I finished my work and went to my room and frowned not seeing her there. I go her her old room to find her laying on the bed with her book giggling.
I cleared my throat to gain her attention. I was mad at her but it all ended when she smiled at me. As usual it made my heart feel things it never felt before.
"What are you doing here?" I asked with a pout and settled beside her.
"Was doing some college work then I got tired so I started reading book" she said pulling me down towards her and kissed me softly. I made both of us lay down properly.
"Tired" she asked and I just hummed nuzzling my lips on her neck and she massaged my head lighty.
"How was your day" that was enough for her to start her rants and I just adored her.
She yawned and placed her head and one leg on me like she owns me. I chuckle and kiss her temple.
"Let's get you to bed now" I was going to pick her up when she shook her head.
"Let's sleep here" saying she turned the lights off and started the fairy light on which were just above the bed.
"It's beautiful na. I installed them when I was bored the other day. It gives so peaceful vibes haina"
"Not more beautiful than my wife" she blushed and soon sleep engulfed us both.
Flashback ends
I turn the fairy lights on and lay there looking at it. This gives me escape from everything and makes me feel near her.
"Yes Aru it does give peaceful vibes" tears slip from my eyes.
I hug her teddy and slept. And just like always I feel her near me.
---
I wake because of the sunlight. I squint my eyes and it took me sometime to realise where I am. Taking a deep breath I got up. After doing my morning routine I went to gym and spent a good time there.I went to my room and took a shower. When I was done I saw a message from maa telling me to come there for breakfast. Mom must have informed her.
After Arohi left, a few months later her family shifted to Mumbai. They didn't want that when their daughter came, they would not be here to meet her. After a lot of persuading they agreed to stay at one of our flats which is in this building itself. Papa got job in the same school where Nikhil got admission. It is a very good school and the payment pay is also good.
I went downstairs to the temple cleaned it and lit on insense stick, just like she used to do. After taking blessings and praying the god to send my life back. I left the penthouse and went to her parent's house.
I rang the doorbell and maa opened it with a warm smile. I touched her feet and entered to see papa and Nikhil sitting on the dining table.
I take a seat and maa serve me aloo Paratha and coffee.
"How are you jeeju" Nikhil asked with a small smile.
"I'm doing fine. How are your studies"
"They are good. Can you teach me maths, I'm having some doubts in it"
"Of course champ. When I'll come in the evening I'll teach you"
"You'll stay here tonight as well?" Papa asked with a worried expression.
I come here whenever it gets hard for me to stay without her and everyone knows it. It was almost everyday earlier but now I just come twice or thrice a month.
"No papa I will just come to teach him"
"Ok then I will prepare your favourite for dinner" I just gave her a faint smile.
I leave for office and again get myself engrossed with the work. Just like I have been doing for past years. There is no reason for me to go back home early. When Arohi left there was nothing left in me. The work gave me an escape from the reality and I took it happily.
I just wish I could see her one more time and tell her how much I miss her. How much I love her. I just want to hold her in my arms and cry my heart put. I want keep her with me forever. I want to complain like a child to her. How could she leave her baby like this? I will punish her for leaving me. I will tell her to be in front of my eyes 24x7. Yes this will be a good punishment for her.
To be continued...
