Family Day. The one day that Adrien hated the most because his father never spent any time with him since he was always busy with his work and today wasn't any different as he sighed in annoyance. For once Adrien wished that his father was free from his schedules and would spend time with him but his wish never came true as he was going to spend Family Day alone until Marinette had texted him, asking if he wanted to spend time with her family.
Adrien agreed as he thanked Marinette for inviting him to spend time with her family and Natalie had Gorilla, Adrien's bodyguard, drop Adrien off at the Dupain-Cheng's bakery. Adrien was so excited as he was able to have fun on Family Day even though he was going to spend time with Marinette's family but he didn't mind at all and he was looking forward to what he was going to do with the Dupain-Chengs. For once he wasn't going to dread Family Day because he was going to have fun.
Once Adrien was dropped off at the bakery, Marinette was outside waiting for him as she waved at him and he followed her inside of the bakery. Sabine and Tom welcomed Adrien as he smiled and he was wondering what they were going to do for Family Day.
"I'm so glad that you came, Adrien. My parents and I spend Family Day together by baking different recipes but you can decide what we make," Marinette said to Adrien as he didn't get much time to cook on his own but when he did, he loved it and it was one of his favourite things to do. Adrien thought for a moment as to what he wanted to bake with the Dupain-Chengs and he had an idea.
"How about we make chouquettes? They're my absolute favourite treat and I love them. Why don't we bake them?" Adrien said as Marinette and her parents nodded in agreement. Marinette gave Adrien an apron as she leads him to the sink and they both wash their hands before they started to help Sabine and Tom with cooking.
"Adrien dear. Why don't you and Marinette melt the butter plus the milk along with a pinch of salt and sugar?" Sabine said to Adrien as he nodded and Marinette helped him to do what Sabine had told them to do. Once the butter and milk were melted, Sabine took over as she added in the flour, all at once before she began to mix quickly with a wooden spoon until the mixture formed a smooth paste. She then puts the pan back onto the heat to dry out the paste a little, mixing it consistently to prevent it from burning.
After that, Tom takes over as he transfers the paste into a large bowl, and stirs the mixture to loosen it up so that it can cool down. Once the mixture cooled down, Marinette and Adrien add in the eggs, one at a time, while mixing the mixture after each egg until the paste becomes thick, glossy and completely smooth. Sabine and Tom then spoon mounds onto lined baking trays, spacing the chouquettes about 5cm apart.
Once that was done, the sugar is added on each mound as the tray is placed into the oven to cook and Marientte along with Adrien start to help with cleaning up. Twenty minutes passed as the Chouquettes were ready and they were taken out of the oven to cool down. As soon as they were cooked down, everyone took one to each and they all loved it.
"Thank you for inviting me over to spend Family Day with you. I had so much fun," Adrien said to Marinette as he really enjoyed spending Family Day with the Dupain-Chengs but he hoped that one day his father would spend time with him.
"Anytime Adrien. You're always welcome to join us for Family Day since you can consider this family as your found family," Tom said to Adrien as he nodded and he was given the rest of the chouqettes in a box to take home. Family Day ended up being a fun day after all.
