King Shane's POV:

The courtyard is packed with nobles and royals, celebrating the future heir.

The dragons whom normally flew about the sky on riders were now contained in their stalls.

I sit upon my chair, watching as Queen Celeste dances elegantly with the other ladies at court. Her dark blue dress shimmers in the sunlight. Her long brown locks sway in the breeze. I take this view in, enjoying the moment. It had been quite tense between us since the fight. The next time I see her, she is all smiles. As if nothing had ever happened. I wonder what's changed but she seems happy. I wonder if this is due to her recent condition.

She'll be a mother soon enough, and I, a father.

Holding her arms gracefully above her head, she twirls slowly to the music.

When the music switches, she makes her way up to her throne, not making eye contact with me in any way.

I tap my fingers on the table, feeling my annoyance grow.

She is young, she will learn.

I hear a disturbance to my right. Turning I see an older man dressed as a messenger who'd been making his way towards me. My knights had halted him, unsheathing their swords, ready to strike if needed.

"My King, I bring dire news!" He calls out

"Let him through!" I order

The knights sheath their swords and move aside.

The man hurries over, bowing.

"Speak."

He looks up and opens his mouth but there's nothing.

I stand, grabbing him by the shoulders.

This catches the sight of onlookers.

"What has happened to my daughter?" I demand

"Princess Ruby has fallen critically ill at Ravesworth Castle."

Queen Celeste's eyes widen, worry upon her face.

"Prep Xythos." I tell him and dove him away

He nods and takes off to the dragon stalls to retrieve a dragon maester and get everything in place. I stand, paying no mind to the nobles who witnessed the commotion. I turn my attention back to Celeste who regains her composure, not for herself but for her people.

"I must go."

"Perhaps I should come with you."

"That's not necessary."

"Forgive me, Your Majesty. She is my step daughter."

"Your priority should be this child." I say placing my hand upon her womb

She opens her mouth to speak but I shoot her a look.

She smiles and nods.

"Enjoy the festivities."

I place a kiss upon her cheek and make my way to Xythos.
