King Shane's POV:
I sit upon my chair watching as Princess Ruby dances.
I had not spoken with Queen Celeste in days.
She had taken off to Estever Castle, avoiding me.
Spotting one of my messengers, I wave him forward.
"Have you any word from the Queen?" I ask
"She had read your letter urging her to return to court. She has refused unless under direct order."
"It was not a request. She dares deny me? I could have her head!"
I grab him by the collar, yanking him closer to me.
"You will fly back to the castle with knights and you will return the Queen even if she screams bloody murder or you'll be held for treason, do you understand?!" I demand
Princess Ruby, hearing me shout, begins to rush over.
I signal to the knights who block her path.
She calls out for me.
I turn my attention back to the messenger.
"Have I made myself clear?"
"I understand perfectly, Your Majesty."
I shove him away.
He bows before heading off on his orders.
Queen Celeste's POV:
Rain continues to pour from the sky as I pace back and forth inside the concrete walls of the Tower. King Shane has sent his men. I was confined. I wonder if I'll be held for treason and executed. My mind is a whirlwind of emotions. I wonder how a man I'd come to care for, could betray me in such a way. It was disrespectful not just to me but the monarchy itself.
I have committed no crime.
He doesn't even know I'm with child.
I spend my night in fear and anger.
King Shane's POV:
I sit upon my throne.
The door opens and Queen Celeste enters.
She makes her way up to me, her anger thinly hidden.
She curtsies, her eyes like daggers when she meets my gaze.
"Your Majesty."
"You dare to defy your King?" I demand
"I arrived when ordered to, Your Majesty."
I narrow my eyes.
"I apologize for any offense given."
"You are hereby commanded to remain within the walls of the castle."
"Very well."
Anger rages upon her face but she remains calm.
"Have you nothing to say for your actions?" She asks
I scoff.
"I am King and can do as I wish. You cannot. Imagine the digrace if you'd given birth to..."
She narrows her eyes.
"A bastard? Hmm. Imagine."
"Have you nothing else to say?" I question
Celeste holds her head high.
"I have done my duty as your Queen. I'm with child."
A smile breaks across my face.
I cannot help but show my joy at this.
I stand, stepping towards her.
She steps back.
The bell tolls and the conversation is cut short as she takes her place upon her throne, preparing for the nobles that will soon swarm the castle.
