King Shane's POV:
Stormwall Castle
The throne room is filled with noblemen and women in a panic.
The reason I had been summoned to Stormwall was the flood that had occurred two weeks prior. The roads had been washed out, leaving no way to get through until a makeshift bridge had been built. Dozens of farms had been destroyed, leaving the townspeople at risk of starvation. I had spent the past few days running about to do damage control, delegating groups of men for different tasks, gathering supplies, food and whatever else was needed before we loaded up and made our way here.
The death count was fourth and climbing.
Even now, bodies were still being pulled from the rubble.
At best, the town would be back on its feet in a few months. I'd already agreed to send supplies every week to help whilst they recovered. It would be a slow process as they restocked on animals, replanted crops and rebuilt shelters. Nature was unpredictable and always deadly, thus all royals had funds set aside for such occasions like what lies before me.
"Ladies and gentlemen, there are no words for me to express the loss you have suffered personally and in the case of stability. I will do all I can to aid in this matter. If you are here to report the damage of property, please move to the left side of the room and meet with Lord Stevens. If you have come to report the loss of a loved one or one that is missing, please meet with Lady Cassidy beside me. Please try to keep calm and we will figure this out." I say to the large crowd before me
The people scatter about, meeting with whomever they needed to.
Others were busy at work loading supplies from coaches to the castle or shelters and storage areas in town. It would take the entire day but by the time the last noble couple exits, it feels as though a good bit of progress has been made, even with the long journey ahead.
