King Shane's POV:

Emberfall Castle:

I sit inside my chambers, the castle a whirl of activity.

The two closest now in my life seem to have bonded well.

It brought me great relief to see Princess Leia comfort Princess Ruby.

Ruby knew what was destined of me, as King.

I do know she still pains, missing her mother.

Now it is time to make Princess Leia my Queen.

Crowned in front of thousands.

A knock at the door causes me to turn from where I stand, staring out at the back yard as Princess Ruby dances about, closely watched by her nanny and guards. A messenger stands before me, envelope in hand.

"I come with urgent news from House Chester, Your Majesty." He says

House Chester?

That is the house that Princess Ruby is betrothed to, their son.

"Open it."

He breaks the wax seal, scanning the contents.

"Your Majesty, House Chester herby revokes the betrothal made between Princess Ruby and Prince Ryan." The messenger says

The mood shifts immediately.

Anger fills me at this news.

The two were matched at birth.

What could cause this?

"Why have they revoked?" I demand angrily

"On the grounds that Prince Ryan has now been betrothed to Princess Sandra of House Staton."

What?!?

Princess Leia's POV:

The coach pulls down the road packed with citizens desperate to catch a glimpse of the King and his new bride. King Shane sits beside me, his hand entwined with mine as we have and smile at the people. We head towards the castle to begin the coronation and following festivities.

King Shae climbs out of the coach, extending a hand for me.

I take it, getting out.

King Shane leaves to join the citizens in the throne room.

I head to my chambers to prepare with my ladies whilst the townspeople packed into the throne room and all around the courtyard.

Soon I stand before the entrance to the throne room.

The doors open and I make my way down the aisle as the people curtsy and bow as I pass. King Shane stands proudly taking my hand in his as he walks to to my throne. I sit down, knowing each step to take as I had practiced quite often from the moment we were betrothed.

"Welcome to the coronation of Princess Leia." King Shane says to the room

The crowd cheers before he holds up a hand, silencing them.

A gentleman steps forward, presenting a silver crown upon a pillow to the King. King Shane takes it in his hands, walking over to me.

"With the Silver Crown, I proclaim you Queen of Silvercrest."

The crowd erupts into deafening applause and happy shouts.

I look out at the people , knowing that it's now my duty to care for them and protect them as much as I am able.

Seeing their joy, I'm filled with relief, blinking back tears of happiness.

I know the shoes I aim to fill.

Queen Ida was fierce in her reign, fighting against her enemies and protecting her family. She fought quite literally until her last breath.

Now, I would take up the mantle.

Caring for her family and people.

"You shall henceforth be known as Queen Leia of Silvercrest, Princess of House Evera." King Shane decrees
