Queen Ida's POV:

Walking through the castle, I notice guards at every post available.

Riders had been sent out to hunt down the guilty party/parties.

We still had no clue as to who could've slain House Gavos.

We had increased security inside the castle just in case.

Making my way to the throne room, I open the doors.

"Her Majesty, Queen Ida." An announcer calls out

The stone constructed room is lit by candles with black flags hanging on the wall, the symbol of a silver crossbow on the front, the crest of our house.

King Shane and I along with our future heirs would carry this symbol with us upon our ships and steeds when traveling and at war.

The room is packed full of frantic noble men and women, desperate for answers as to why they'd been summoned.

Heads turn and murmurs cease as I enter.

King Shane has yet to arrive.

I inhale, shoving away my worries, holding my head high as I make my way through the crowd and up to my throne. I turn to face my people, willing my body to relax, to look every part the calm and powerful Queen I must be.

Not only for myself but for my people.

"I thank you all for gathering inside the castle." I say loudly

I can see as people shift nervously.

We had done our best in the past few hours to keep the news quiet.

Now, with as much protection as possible inside and out on the street, it was time to tell the people of the tragedy that occurred.

"I bring about troubling and tragic news. House Gavos has fallen. This was not an act of natural disaster or causes. It was murder. We are doing everything within our power to make certain those responsible are held to the highest form of justice." I tell them

The crowd erupts in whispers and shouts of distress.

I stand, helpless and at a loss for words.

What more could I say to ease their worry?

We have a lose killer with a dragon.

We have riders in the sky and on the street...

The chaos is cut to silence when the doors open again and a fleet of knights along with King Shane enter. Not far behind him, a man in chains being led by knights. The man looks terrified, scanning the room with wide eyes.

"His Majesty, King Shane." The announcer calls

Everyone in the room falls to a bow or a deep curtsy as King Shane crosses the room to stand in front of me. He holds out a hand which I take, standing before him. He moves to stand to my right, facing the crowd. The knights, without a word, make their way through the room and out to the passageway. This would lead to a spiral staircase down to the castle dungeon.

"Ladies and gentlemen of Silvercrest, I have returned with a nobleman from Castle Boltan. This man has crucial information on the fall of House Gavos. I thank you for your patience, faith and strength whilst we work to bring justice to the family, as much as we can." King Shane says to the room

"How do we know the treat has passed?" A male voice calls out

"I need to protect my family!" Shouts a woman

The crowd erupts again in chaos.

"Everyone, please! I know you are frightened. Please, if you have no duties to attend to, return to your families and protect them. Everyone is to remain armed at all times, no matter what. If your duties are not crucial, you are dismissed until you are told otherwise." I say

King Shane nods in agreement to this.

Without another action to take, the nobles are led by the knights out of the throne room and out of the castle.

In truth, I could be upon my own dragon, circling the sky.

I had to wait of course, to know the plan of action.

Once the room is cleared, King Shane turns to me.

"We flew from town to town, colliding with him in his way back. He wasn't alone. We ordered his other two men to stand down. They had stolen not one but two dragons. The other man refused and was blasted from the sky." He informs me

"Oh fuck." I say

He nods.

"This is the only person we know of so far with information." He continues

"So what happens now?" I ask

I had lived through many attacks in my life.

Attempts on my family.

Attempted kidnapping of my siblings for money.

"I question him. If that doesn't reveal results, he'll be questioned more...severely."

He speaks carefully but I know what he means.

If he doesn't fess up, he'll be tortured.

Shane places his hand in my own.

"Go keep our daughter company. It will ease my conscience to know she is in peaceful company with her mother."

"Of course, my love."

I place a gentle kiss upon his lips before leaving, making my way to Ruby.
