Three Weeks Later:

Queen Celeste's POV:

I make my way down the hall, my knights behind me.

We had spent many nights together.

Now, it has finally brought about a gift.

An heir.

I am halted a few times, giving words to staff.

Then as I see the King's chambers, my face falls.

There, sneaking out of his chambers was a young woman.

Brown hair, doe eyes, soft features.

She moves to make her way curtsy and scurry past.

"Hold." I say

She freezes mid step.

"How may I help you, Your Majesty?"

Her eyes are locked with the floor.

"What business do you have sneaking into my husband's quarters?"

She doesn't answer.

"Must I repeat myself?" I demand

"That is the business of the King, Your Majesty. I am sworn to secrecy. I cannot say."

The discomfort is clear upon her face.

She trembles a bit.

I'm about to ask more but I think better of it.

"Leave."

She scampers away down the hall, out of my sight.

I make my way into his chambers.

Lying under the covers, he quickly pulls the covers over himself.

"Who is she?" I demand unable to contain my anger

"Who is who?"

"The woman sneaking away from your chambers like some common whore!"

As soon as the last word leaves my lips, it clicks.

She's his mistress.

My face hardens.

We glare at one another, tension growing although neither of us speaks.

I turn and make my exit.

I hear him scramble to his feet.

"Celeste-"

I hear the door shut behind me.
