Ray and Anna came back from their honeymoon after a week. Ray had never been on vacation before so it was all new for him. He had the best time of his life. Not only because he had been able to do something he never thought he would do, but because he was able to experience it with Anna.
Norman and Emma were the one who greeted them back. Of course, the couple immediately noticed Norman's injuries. Emma was the one who told them what had happened. Not only that, but Ray had also noticed that something seemed to be bothering his brother.
Norman was staying at their house for the night after Emma had insisted he sleep in a warm place. Anna had just gone to bed, leaving Ray alone in the living room. Before also going to bed, he decided to go check on his brother. He knocked before opening the door.
« Norman? »
His brother was sitting on the bed staring at the ground. The wolf saw him raise his gaze to look at him. He looked so tired. The raven boy went to sit beside the white-haired one. He never liked seeing his little brother like that. Norman smiled at him.
« How are you feeling? »
« I'm fine. Why do you ask? »
Ray put his hand on Norman's shoulder.
« I know you know why I asked. I noticed you seemed bothered by something earlier. What was it? »
« It was nothing. You don't have to worry about me. »
« Bullshit. »
« Huh? »
Ray always knew when his brother was lying. And right now, he could see that something was hurting him. What? That was the question.
« I know you're lying. Is it related to Emma? »
At Norman's silence and the fact that he avoided eye contact and his smile dropped, Ray knew he had guessed just right. Norman let out a sigh, not looking at his brother.
« No, it's... I don't know, okay? I don't know what I'm feeling anymore. It's all messed up in my head and... I don't know what to feel anymore. It's been like that for a while now... »
The goat raised his gaze to look at the wolf. Ray could see every emotions of his brother in those sapphire eyes of his.
« I- I love Emma. But I can't love her the way I want. It's just wrong and selfish of me for feeling that way. »
Ray wasn't expecting his brother to confess like that. He didn't say a single word though. He let Norman vent everything to him.
« She's happy with Curt and I don't want to be the cause of her misery. I love her, but I know she doesn't love me the way I do. It hurt to see them together. It hurt a lot. I don't know what to do... »
« I'm gonna be completely honest with you, Norman. I don't know what you should do either. »
« Thanks for your help. I knew you couldn't help me anyway. But thanks for trying, I guess. »
Ray rolled his eyes as he crossed his arms.
« What I mean is, that you don't have any chances with her now. Since like you said, she already has a boyfriend. But if you stay with her by her side, I'm sure you might have your chance one day. »
Norman gave a small smile at his brother.
« Thanks Ray. »
« Anytime. »
Ray knew Norman wasn't believing him one bit.
