Norman did not want to see this man. He was fine without him now. And, either way, what was he doing here?! How did he find him?!That man. Long blond hair reaching his shoulders and attached in a bun. Yellow-amber eyes. His ear twitching on his head. His small tail slowly wagged behind him. This lion.
The man seemed to be as shocked as the younger one. Norman's hands were clenched into fists, so hard, that he could feel his nails digging into his palms.
« What are you doing here? »
« Norman... you've grown so much. »
« Of course I did. It's been years. »
His answers were cold and dry. That man didn't deserve any ounce of forgiveness or gentleness.
« I'm sorry. I didn't mean to be away from you and your brother for this long. »
« Twenty. Twenty years. »
Norman stared angrily at the man he once called father.
« It's been twenty, fucking, years. Do you really think we would forgive you this easily? I don't care about what shitty excuses you have this time. We trusted you! Do you even remember how old we were when you left?! »
« I- »
« We were five. Five! You abandoned us! We had to learn how to survive and take care of ourselves at the age of five. Our lives were shitty until we were old enough to make ourselves a life. Because of you. »
Some bypassers who passed beside them would look at them and leave quickly. From where she was, Emma and her friend heard the commotion, making them both look towards it.
« Hey, Emma. Isn't it your boyfriend over there? With your son? »
« Yeah, it is. »
« Do you know that man? »
Emma shook her head.
« No, I don't. It was nice to see you again, Gillian. See you next time! »
« See you! Go save your prince charming. »
Emma ran back to Norman and James. She had never seen Norman this mad before.
Norman stopped giving attention to the man once he saw her stop beside him. Emma took James from the stroller as she silently asked Norman what was happening.
« Is it... your son? »
The cheetah could see how annoyed the goat was as he turned his head to look at the man.
« And what about it? »
« Nothing. It's just... I'm proud of you. I'm glad to see you found yourself a family. »
« Proud? Proud. Since when? Since when did you care about what happened to us? »
Norman turned around to look at Emma.
« Let's go, Emma. »
Emma gave him a nod as they left the park. You have to know that Emma had never seen Norman this mad before. It was actually worrying her.
The man could only watch them leave.
^____^
Once home, and since it was already late, Emma went to put James to bed. The little boy had already fallen asleep. Norman had sat down on the couch, letting out a sigh. The cheetah went to join him once their son was settled in his crib.
« Do you want to talk about what happened earlier now or later? »
Norman looked at her. He gave her a small smile full of gratitude.
