Brooklyn's POV

My favorite for breakfast is pancakes and waffles and I have to have my coffee of course. Today is the first day of the cabin games.

Me and my cabin walked over to the chalkboard in the mess hall to see where we were. "Brooklyn were in 2nd place" Katie said with an excited expression on her face.

"Good job girls, but we need to win today" I tell them. I look at the name before us Tanner was in first place. Still don't know if it's him but I'm 90% sure it is.

But wouldn't he have said something by now or at least been nice to me.

After we left the mess hall we went back to our cabin to clean up and then headed out the field.

"Okay today we are going to be competing in the tug of war challenge. All of our games will be tournaments," Wesley said. I knew that we had to win because I didn't want tanner to beat me.

"The First two teams are Corbin and Brooklyn" Wesley announced. We stood up and walked over to the rope. I was the first in our line and Hannah was at the back. I have to admit I'm not the strongest person ever so Hannah took the back and our girls were between us.

Corbin's Cabin got ready. "On your mark get set go". We went back and forth for about a minute but then finally my team took the win. "Yes" I said and went around giving my girls a high five.

We sat back down on the ground and watched the other teams go. We won 2 more times and made it to the finale.

"Alright our last two teams standing are....... Brooklyn and Tanner." Tanner, of course it was Tanner it couldn't have been anyone else, someone I know we could beat.

But I am a little happy that I have a chance to beat him though.

We walked over to the rope and I took my spot. Tanner was right in front of me. "You're ready to lose," I say to tanner. "Me loose, please you're going to be the ones losing." "I think you're just scared that girls can beat you." "never in a million years." he says.

"On your mark get set go" Wesley yells. I don't think I have ever pulled a rope so hard. I almost fell to the ground a few times, But we did it. We beat Tanner. Me and my girls jumped up and cheered as we gathered in a big group hug.

At dinner I walked over to look at the board again. First place Brooklyn, Second place Tanner, I read.

"Hey good job today" tanner walks up beside me and looks up at the board. "What? Thanks" I say smiling. "Don't get too hot headed, we are going to win the competition." "No you're not." I say. "Are too" he says back.

"Are not"

"Are too"

"Are not"

"Are too"

Every time he says it we get closer and closer until we are almost touching. We go silent. "May the best one win" I say, breaking the silence holding out my hand so we can agree on it.

He shakes my hand. His handshake is firm, he looks straight into my eyes. There it is again we go silent. He leans in his head beside my ear. "For the record we're the best so we're going to win" he chuckles and backs up and then walks away.

Holy shit that was hot, like really hot. There was so much tension between us.

We got back to the cabin and it was already time to go to bed.

The girls went to sleep and then me and Hannah sat down on the bed. "What a day" Hannah says, flopping back onto the bed. "I know I am beat, I think that I pulled a muscle in my back" I say, holding my side and leaning back against the headboard of the bed.

I reached over and grabbed my book off the nightstand. "You read?" Hannah asked me. "Yeah I love to read before I go to bed, It soothes me." What kind of books do you read?". "Um, I like romance books." "That's cool, I have never been able to get into reading," she says.

I didn't tell her why I like reading romance. It was because I liked the thought of having a perfect love life, not complicated. I liked the perfect guys in the books. Every guy that I have ever dated was an asshole and never respected me.

________________

After breakfast we went to the basketball court. Today's tournament was basketball. We won the first game we played and then it came time to play Tanner's team.

When I saw him I got butterflies in my stomach. Maybe I was forming a crush on him. You never can go to camp without having a camp crush. Right?

I walked up to the court and came up beside me. "Just remember sweetheart, I have the best team." he said in a voice that only I could hear.

We started the game and we were tied for most of the game rotating most of the points. The game went to 15 and it was currently 14 to 14 we were tied. Only one more point and we would win... or them.

Tanner shot and scored. We lost.

"M M M" tanner said, coming up to me. We had gone to the rally and finished dinner and now the kids were running around playing and eating snacks.

I was sitting in the gazebo with Hannah. It was pitch black outside and about 11:45 and lights off were at 12:00.

"I guess my teams the best," he said, taking a seat beside me. "Not so fast, I'm only in second place and we still have a lot of games left."I say. "Keep telling yourself that sweetheart" he said with a smirk on his face.

Everytime he called me sweetheart it made my stomach twist into knots and made me feel like a big lump of jello.

I looked at my watch, 11:50. "Well I guess it's time to go in for the night" I said standing up. "Yeah guess so," he said. "Goodnight" I said walking down the steps following hannah. "Night, I'll see you tomorrow and you're going to lose." he said. I laughed and shook my head.

"Ok so what was that about?" Hannah asked me. We were laying in bed and the girls were asleep and I was reading my book. "What was what about?" I asked, trying to seem innocent but I knew what she was talking about. Tanner.

"Oh come on you no what I am talking about" I shrugged my shoulders and smiled. "Nothing, it was nothing." I said, even though I was so excited on the inside.

"I think someone has a camp crush." she said, smiling and nudging my shoulder. "Okay maybe but it's not just a camp crush. "Wait, what do you mean he's not just a camp crush" she asked eagerly.

"We might have grown up together." I said. "What!!! Tell me all the details."

"I grew up here in Wilmington and Tanner was my neighbor, we were best friends. He was a year younger than me and we spent every second together. He always played tricks on me and made fun of me but he really was my best friend." I told her. "But....." she said impatiently.

"But I had the biggest crush on him."

"Aww did you date in highschool."

"No I moved to Georgia when I was 8"

"Did he ever know that you had a crush on him"

"Absolutely not," I said and gave her a look.

"But I don't know 100% that it's him and he doesn't even recognize me," I said.

"Have you asked?" she asked me

"Well no because what if it's not him or he doesn't remember me."

"I'm sure he'll remember his best friend, you should talk to him"

"Ugh I don't know" I said putting my hands over my face.
