Brooklyns POV

Okay so that happened. Tanner found out and I didn't have to tell him, which made me a little relieved that I wouldn't have to be the person to break the news to him but also I feel bad knowing that I didn't tell him and he had to find out from his girlfriend.

I told Tanner that he could come to my appointment today and we could talk about it. I figured we should have saved the talking for Thursday because we were both in too much of a shock on Monday morning to discuss anything really serious.

I heard my phone buzzing and picked it up. I got a text from a random number and when I opened it I read 'it's Tanner, I'm waiting outside for u'. Omg. Did Tanner change his number? Is that why he never responded? If he got a new number then that means that he never read my text and knew how I HAD felt.

I grabbed my stuff and turned off the lights in my house then walked out the door to Tanner's truck. It was a bit of a jump to get up there considering how pregnant I am. I didn't have a problem with it before but now it was a struggle.

"Hey" Tanner says. "Hey, whats up"

"How are you?" he asks me

"I'm doing fine, you" I say breathing really heavily from getting into the truck.

"I'm fine, are you good?"

"Yeah, I'm fine it's just a little harder to get up here now"

"Oh, sorry I didn't think about that"

We got to the doctor's office and Tanner went in with me. We got to hear the baby's heartbeat and my doctor said that the baby was doing really well and was healthy. He also said that I was doing good.

When we got out of the doctors office I made Tanner go through the chick fil a drive thru because hello ya girls eating for two. We went back to my place and ate our food.

"It must be good, you haven't said a single word since you started eating" Tanner said. I stopped mid bite of my chicken sandwich and my mouth was so cramped. I just shook my head to agree with him. We both started laughing because I'm sure the sight of me wasn't pretty.

We finished our food and then took a seat on the couch to finally talk about some things. "Okay so how is this going to work when the baby is born?" Tanner asks. "Well when she is first born I will be taking off work so I will be home all of the time so maybe you can come over on weekends?"I suggested.

"I don't want you to have to stay up all night so I can stay on the weekends to help you through the night"

"Oh, you don't have to do that"

"No, it will give me a chance to be there for you and the baby"

"Are you sure? Is you girlfriend what's her name-Patyton going to be ok with that"

"Were not together anymore"

"Oh, sorry I guess she wasn't too happy when she found out that I was carrying your baby"

"Yeah, you have no idea" Tanner raised his eyebrows.

_________
The next 4 weeks Tanner came to all of my appointments and has even helped me with the nursery. We haven't fully finished it yet so Tanner is over here helping me put the bassinet together.

"I think these directions are in chinese" I say trying to read them off to him. "Let me see," Tanner says, standing up and walking over to me to see the instructions. "Brooklyn, you have them upside down" he said, taking them out of my hand and turning them so that they are rightside up.

"Whoops, that might be why I kept reading gibberish, must be my pregnancy brain"

Tanner just shook his head and laughed. "So what do you think the baby is going to be?" Tanner asked me. "I don't know, I think it is going to be a girl. How about you? What do you think it's going to be?

"I think that it is going to be a boy. I always pictured having a boy first whenever I decided to have kids. I do have to be honest though I never expected to be having kids before I was 30 much less 23"

"Yeah and I never expected to have a kid with my ex before I was even married but here we are"I said.

I coughed again because my throat was killing me. "I'll be right back" I said and walked out into the kitchen to pour a glass of water. When I took a sip of my water my throat was so dry that it made me cough even more. Tanner came out of the bedroom and into the kitchen "are you good?" he asked me. "Yeah, I think my throat was just dry. I'm fine"
"Okay" Tanner said and I finished my water and I followed him back into the room.

When I got into the bedroom I got goosebumps all over me which is weird because I never get cold in my house. I walked over to my closet and grabbed a hoodie and slipped it over my head. "Are you cold or is it just me?" I asked Tanner. "No, I'm comfortable-" Tanner turned around to face me and then was staring at me.

"What? Why are you looking at me like that?" I asked him. I looked down to where he was looking and realized I was wearing his NC state hoodie that he gave me over the summer. I truly was only wearing it because to be honest none of my hoodies would fit over my stomach.

"I just like this sweatshirt and it's the only one that I can fit into," I say. Tanner just turned back around and continued to work. I coughed again after that. What the freak is wrong with me.

"Are you sure you're okay?" Tanner asked me again. "Yes, I told you I'm fine" I say, starting to get a little annoyed at him that he keeps asking me but it also is nice to know that he still really cares about me, he has been really helpful these last few weeks.

"Well, you don't look or act fine" Tanner says and stands up again and puts his hand on my forehead. "Brooklyn, you're burning up, you need to take your temperature". "Fine" I say and walk into the kitchen and grab my thermometer and stick it in my mouth.

After a minute It beeps and I take it out and look at it. "104.7" I read to Tanner and both our eyes widened. "Brooklyn you have to go to the hospital. It's not supposed to be that high, and your pregnant"

"Okay fine I'll go but you're driving my car" I say. "Okay, that's fine"

I grab my keys and purse and me and Tanner get in the car. I called my doctor on the way there and she said I did the right thing because a fever can lead to complications. That's all she said, she didn't give me any more information, which made me wonder if it is something so bad that she doesn't want to tell me, or is it something that doesn't require much attention and there is nothing to say.

We got checked in to see my doctor and she came into the room a few moments later. "Ok, so I ran a few labs and it turns out that you tested positive for the flu" she said. "Few, I'm glad it's just that" I say super relieved that it isn't anything that can harm the baby.

"Well actually getting flu while pregnant can lead to major complications like preterm labor"

She told me. "So what do I do?" I ask her. "I'm going to admit you to the hospital for a few days so I can keep a close watch on you, and so you can be on bed rest"

I nodded in agreement. I am so worried that if something really bad happens, it would be all my fault that I got sick.
