I press on the elevator button, waiting for it to come to my floor. Fidgeting with the keycard that Max gave me, still uncertain if I should actually go to his room.
I read the room number on the card and stare at the floor number that the elevator is on right now.
"Hey Dylan, how are you" I hear someone say in a British accent
"I'm doing great what about you Lando?" I respond and he joins me to wait on the elevator
"Well I had a great race, sadly didn't make it on the podium but after yesterdays failed qualifying its the best I could have done" he says "are you joining us at the party later? Some of us drivers are going out to eat, would be nice to have you around" he asks me
"I don't know, I gotta see if I got other plans... You know music and stuff its really difficult and stressful sometimes" I say and see that the elevator is one floor away from getting here
"Understandable, I'll send you the address on Instagram. Incase you decide to spend your time with us" he chuckles
"What floor are you on?" Lando asks me and looks at the keycard in my hand "708, oh we're on the same floor" he says
Great, now I got no choice to go to Max' room...
I smile at him and nod trying to not be obvious that its not actually my room
He takes out his keycard that says 709 turning quiet as he reads his room number and then looks at my keycard again looking confused
"Hold on, your room is across from mine... I could've sworn Max went in there when we got here together" he says concerned "Max Verstappen, the world champion of last year" he makes it clear as if I didn't already know
"Yeah I know who Max is" I say and the elevator arrives and we get in pressing the button for the 7th floor
"Let me message him real quick, maybe they double booked that room" Lando says and pulls out his phone
"Oh no theres no need for that, I talked with Max before I went to the hotel" I say completely blowing the plan of being casual the doors close and suddenly a hand holds it
Thank god, someone coming to my rescue...
The door opens again revealing whose hand it is... Arthur... with the bruise on his face now covered with some plasters
"I will take the stairs..." he says stepping out the door
"Nonsense, theres more then enough room" Lando says and invites him to join us in the elevator and also presses the button to the 7th floor
He steps back inside and we finally go up
"What happened mini Leclerc?" Lando asks him pointing to where the bruise is on his face
Arthur looks at me for a moment and turns to Lando when he answers his questions
"I hit myself in the face with a door, its really stupid" he lies and turns away from us
"Ouch, you must have done that pretty hard as it seems" Lando responds
"What room are you in?" Lando asks him and Arthur searches his pockets for the keycard
"710" I respond without thinking twice
"Yeah" hes says as he finds his keycard and Lando looks at me shocked
"How... how did you know that?" He asks me
"We talked at the circuit" I tell him and he nods
"Do you remember who's in the rooms next to you?" He asks Arthur and gasp out of fear
"Max and Charles why?" He responds and Lando looks at my keycard again
"Dylan also has 708 apparently, they must have double booked his room together with Max" he tells Arthur who I have told my room number earlier this weekend
"Oh..." he says and gives me a side eye "I see..." he responds in a judgemental tone before we stop at the 3rd floor
Come on just walk out and forget this ever happened...
The doors open and god punishes me again, as Theo stands infront of the elevator
You honestly cant be serious... Theo doesnt know about Arthur and me and now Arthur know about Theo and Max, can't this elevator just fall all 3 floors down and end my suffering...
Theo joins us in the elevator and presses the button to the lobby
"Haven't seen you in ages" Theo says acting friendly
"Wish I didnt have to see you at all" I mumble to myself
"What?" The three of them ask
"Nothing, im just talking to myself. But yeah its been a while" I respond with a monotone
"Right you three used to hang out a lot what happened?" Lando asks us and I clear my throat
"Differences of opinions" Theo tells Lando and I nod
"Exactly" I say looking at the floor number finally seeing the 7th floor and exhale loudly as the door opens and I follow Arthur and Lando onto the hallway, leaving Theo in the Elevator
"I will see you all again" I say after I walk to Max' room following Lando and Arthur down the hallway and stand infront of the door opening it with the keycard Max gave me, both of them watching me enter the room and I close the door after I walk in, my back against the door as I take a deep breath
I finally walk further into the room after taking off my shoes, looking through Max' room which is way bigger then mine
Somehow it doesn't shock me how organised his room is, im sure if I walked into Lando's room it would be total chaos in there
I sit down on one of the chairs for a while, looking around, in the hope that I can find something to do but just sitting there waiting makes me so tired that my eyes start to shut, so I decide to get comfortable on his bed, laying ontop of Max' blankets, inhaling the scent of his cologne until my eyes shut.
