[Male Oc x Batfam]

|Chapter one|

[Gotham City Police Department 10:52pm]

Rain fell onto the city. Water drops landed on the window before chasing another across the glass.

A man watched the droplets as he pondered the new case delivered to him. The man was Detective Smith.

The case was about an eleven-year-old boy who went missing two weeks ago. The boy's name was Deryn, he was a student at Gotham Academy.

He was last seen leaving class like the other students for dismissal. After that, no one saw him again.

The parents were minorly rich, so the case was to be solved as soon as possible. It was established that he didn't run away because the parents openly said it wasn't possible and many didn't want to argue. The case was hard.

Not because of the parents, but because the kid had very little. The child was a loner. No friends, no social and no communication.

The kid was nothing but a ghost.

After contemplating his choices, Detective Smith grabbed the small case file and went to the door.

He walked through the halls passing many of his peers as they rushed past him. He soon arrived at his destination.

He raised his hand and knocked.

"Come in." a slightly muffled voice said.

He opened the door and entered the room.

"Commissioner Gordan," he said "I have a case that's very close to be cold."

He placed the file in front of him. The other soon grabbed it and looked through it.

The case was one of the smallest cases he had ever seen.

He hummed in thought. "I will see what I can do." he told Detective Smith.

The latter left leaving the commissioner to call.

"Batman, I have a case if you're willing to take it."

"I will, what am I working with?" the gruff voice said.

"A missing case, an eleven-year-old boy has disappeared without a trace like a ghost. No indication of running away either." he explained.

"I'll find him" the voice said then the line ended.

5 DAYS LATER

[Gotham City BatCave 11:35pm]

Red Robin was interested in the new case.

It was nice to have a challenge. Challenges were like having a puzzle that was misshaped, it would look super weird at the start but after figuring it out would come together.

This case however had little to no pieces to put together.

That still didn't stop his intrigue to the case.

According to the sources they could gather. Deryn was a fairly average child. Academically, he was average.

He wasn't dumb but he wasn't smart either, a B student. His parents had money but were far from being like Bruce Wayne.

They weren't in poverty either but were perfectly stable. The kid had a completely normal family dynamic as well, the mother was also currently twelve weeks pregnant.

The kid was a solid introvert. No known friends or social group. Many people actually never remembered the kid either.

The reaction of remembering him was something akin to looking at something and then forgetting it seconds later.

That did give slight concern as to why people didn't remember him well. Maybe the kid was docile that he was nothing but a wall flower.

If that was true, why go missing?

The theories soon bubbled to the surfaced.

If it was kidnapping, why kidnap him? There hasn't been any ransom demand.

The most likely theory was the worst one. The kid was murdered.

The murderer was defiantly not a first timer.

Managing to be unseen by people is not something easy. Unfortunately, Gotham isn't new to mass murders.

What is hard is finding the murderer who killed  a child of a high middle class family with no significance. The family didn't offend anyone so much to have their own child killed.

The family didn't have any major connections either. The kid's disappearance was random stroke of misfortune.

While in normal instances things can happen, Batman has taught his birds that nothing is a coincidence in Gotham. So now it was up to him to find the kid, alive or dead if that ended up being the case.

[Gotham City Unknown Location 1:06am]

A man walked with grace until he stopped behind a figure sitting in front of him. They were in front of a vanity at the reflection. The man looked at the reflection with pride and satisfaction.

The figure sitting down only looked at the reflection with empty blank eyes.

"Do not fret, my little Paon." the man said with glee. "As promised, you will be looked at with love and admiration you deserved."

The man pulled out a white mask with gold and blue detail on it.

He placed the mask on the figure sitting in front of him. He took a blue clip and pinned it onto the dark brown hair that had been slightly styled with strips of white and blue.

"Now, my little Paon, it is time for rehearsal." the man said calmly.

The dark brunette slowly stood up and followed the man into the curtain that shielded them from the rest.

"Come everybody let's rehearse before the show tomorrow night!" the man said with pride.

All three people stood there in their respective costumes; the colors were vibrant like feathers of their respective names.

[Gotham City Crime Alley 1:18am]

Red Hood stalked the warehouse looking for any suspicious activity.

When he found no living thing in sight, He began searching for any hidden items. After a while he found a secret lever.

He initially thought he found a stash of weapons or drugs, so he pulled the lever. The lever made a large clank before being pulled open.

His eyes widened slightly, there was a body on the table.

The body's eyes were wide open. Lacerations and stab marks littered the body.

Clothes were stained with the blood to the point you couldn't tell the original color.

Something was wrong and it would defiantly be bigger than he imagined.

A/N: I decided to move Peafowl to the one shot collection. This is because I had it on hold for so long that I lost motivation to continue and had a massive writer's block. So I decided to move it here. It will be a one-shot prompt until my brain is sparked to rewrite or continue this enough for me to remake a book for it.
