[Chapter one]

Vladimir Masters was a cheesehead. Anyone could see it.

But why was he not right in the head?

Was it because of the years he spent rotting in a hospital bed? Confined to a bed for years with his face covered with hideous acne.

Or perhaps it was because of the malfunctioning prototype that blasted him with a blast of ectoplasmic energy and radiation.

Or maybe...it was the betrayal and broken heart. The knowledge of knowing that his chance with his dear, Maddie, was over.

All because of Jack Fenton, his college best friend.

His rival.

The one who won Maddie's affection.

The one who put him in the hospital and scarred him with the bulbous inflammations that covered his face.

The bumbling fool that didn't correct the calculations. Unlike his sweet Maddie who had realized his mistake.

Of course, and unfortunately, his dear love wasn't able to stop the idiot from flicking the switch and turning on the portal.

It was no surprise that he grew bitter and hateful. He had been scarred emotionally, physically and mentally.

He was not emotionally healthy by any means.

He recovered though. He gained success by other means. He gained powers, he gained money and power.

The only thing he wanted, the one thing that he hadn't gotten.

Besides the Green Bay Packers, was Maddie.

But in the years he had been in the hospital and out gaining power. She had gotten married.

To Jack Fenton, of all people.

She had two kids. A daughter and a son.

Once again, Maddie was ripped away from him.

It didn't make him feel any better. His hatred and distain for Jack grew immensely.

He couldn't get past on why his Maddie would be with Jack and not him.

The only one who understood why was an alternate Vlad from a different timeline.

That Vlad had created a monster. That Vlad had gone through the same thing but with an addition of ten years.

In those ten years, his Maddie and her family had blown up in an explosion at a restaurant. Her orphan son, Danny, with no where else to go came to him.

That Danny asked him to make the pain go away. To make the grief and loss disappear and vanish like a ghost and never return.

What was that Vlad's solution? To get rid of the painful human emotion by ripping the ghost out of him.

The ghost didn't like that. The ghost who still saw Vlad as an enemy, ripped the ghost out of him.

The two ghost halves merged, making a full ghost. Vlad's ghost half was too much for Danny's ghost half.

A monster was created. A merciless, inhumane monster. A monster who killed Danny, and brought the world to ruins.

That alternate Vlad was in a ruined world for ten years. He stayed in the ruins of his castle style mansion.

All alone but acompannied with time. He used that time to reflect. He realized what a fool he had been.

Everything he believed in, everything he had done was foolish. And then that alternate timeline was completely erased.
