Percy, who faced off a lot of things in his life as a demigod. Responded to the goddess in front of him with, "Um...okay."

The lone satyr of the group gave a much bigger reaction. "Thank you, Lady Artemis!"

The satyr knelt down hastily and began yammering. "You're so...you're so...Wow!"

"Get up, goat boy!" Thalia snapped. "We have other things to worry about. Annabeth is gone!"

"Whoa," Bianca said. "Hold up. Time out."

Everyone looked at her. The di Angelo girl pointed her finger to everyone like she was trying to connect imaginary dots.

"Who...who are you people?" She asked.

Artemis's expression softened. "It might be a better question, my dear girl, to ask who are you? Who are your parents?"

Bianca looked nervous and glanced at her brother, who looked at the goddess in awe.

"Our parents are dead," Bianca said. "We're orphans. There's bank trust pays for our school, but..." she faltered.

It was clear everyone didn't believe her.

"What?" She demanded. "I'm telling the truth."

"You are a half-blood," Zoë said.

Her accent was hard to place to Percy, but she sounded like an old book.

"One of thy parents was mortal. The other an Olympian."

"An Olympian...athlete?" Percy heard a stifled laugh.

When he turned to find the source, it was Rosie.

Her head was turned to the side, her lips were pressed together to hide the smile and keep the noise in her throat.

But of course, she was failing.

It seemed the Hunter thought it was funny and was laughing at the misinterpretation.

The thought of it made Percy crack a small smile as well.

"No," Zoë said. "One of the gods."

"Cool!" said Nico.

"No!" Bianca said. "This is not cool!"

Nico danced around like he needed to go to the bathroom. "Does Zeus really have lightning bolts that do six hundred damage? Does he get extra movement points for—"

"Nico, shut up!" Bianca interrupted and put her hands to her face. "This is not your stupid Mythomagic game, okay? There is no gods!"

Despite being distraught about Annabeth, Percy still felt sorry for the di Angelos. He remembered what it was like when he first discovered he was a demigod.

Thalia must've felt the same since the anger in her eyes subsided.

"Bianca, I know it's hard to believe. But the gods are still around. Trust me. They're immortal. And whenever they have kids with regular humans, kids like us, well....Our lives are dangerous."

"Dangerous," Bianca said. "like the girl who fell."

Thalia turned away. Bianca unintentionally rubbed salt on the wound of a Annabeth's loss.

Even Artemis looked pained. "Do not despair for Annabeth," the goddess said. "She was a brave maiden. If she can be found, I shall find her."

"Then why won't you let us go look for her?" Percy asked.
