I Will Protect You

Ren cried himself to sleep in his office. When he woke up it was afternoon. He decided to go and get something to eat and then check in on his team to see how their training was going. As he was walking down the hall, he heard crying coming from the lounge. He was confused as no one was supposed to be in there because the team was supposed to be training. When he walked in, he saw Kitchi on the couch laying down with his face in a pillow. "Kitchi, are you alright? I can have Aioshi come up." Kitchi moved a bit, and it was then that the blanket slid off and Ren saw the bruises on Kitchi's back from his punishment. "Shit," he said out loud, which made Kitchi cringe. "Kitchi let me get some oil to rub on your back for you" "No boss, it is alright. I can wait for Aioshi." "Nonsense, you are in pain and the oil not only will help the bruises but should take away some of the pain as well." "Boss, please think of what Kim or Aioshi would think if they knew you rubbed oil on my back. I don't want any issues." "Fine, I will go and get Aioshi to do it for you then." Ren stormed out of the lounge and was pissed. It didn't look like Aioshi went easy on Kitchi at all. Then he wondered if Taki knew the condition of his adopted son. He regretted the punishment to begin with and now he wanted to have the same done to him. If he really thought about it, they were all correct in that he didn't want to be the leader, but he wasn't given a choice.

Ren stormed into the training room where every level was training. Well, they were supposed to be training, but were instead talking about Ren's favored team getting in trouble. When they saw Ren come in, they all started training. Ren walked up to Aioshi, grabbed him by his shirt, and threw him into one of the unused rooms. "Ren, what the hell?" "I just saw Kitchi's back. What were you thinking? I said you could go as easy or as hard as you wanted?" "I did go easy on him Boss. You seem to forget that I am the one who dishes out the lashings around here on your orders." "I didn't forget, still why?" "You said 25 lashings, I told you he couldn't handle it, but you said it was either that or a bullet." By this time, they were yelling at each other, and training had stopped. It wasn't unusual for Ren and Aioshi to be yelling, but it was usually not against each other. The other guard group leaders were actually afraid because if there were issues between Ren and his elites it would trickle down to them. When they saw that their groups were listening, they hurried up and made them start running laps on the track. Ren had finally had enough. "Aioshi, you are done training today. Get to the lounge and rub oil on Kitchi. He wouldn't let me do it. He said he could wait for you. Get some pain meds from Taki for him as well." Aioshi was fed up with Ren, so he left the room, walked up to Kim, and pushed him down before yelling at him. "This is all your fault." Ren saw the whole thing. "Aioshi, when you are done with the job, I just gave you, you will be back here for me to dish out a punishment to you. I will not tolerate retaliation behavior." Aioshi knew he was going to get in trouble for pushing Kim and that Ren would dish out the punishment in front of all the guards that weren't on duty. Kim and the rest of the elites were stunned. Aioshi was usually calm and collected in any situation and treated Ren like his younger brother. They decided not to dally and went on with their training. It was then that Ren noticed that Kim and Aoe were wincing while doing their workouts. He couldn't watch anymore. What he wanted was for Kim to come and rescue him from himself, but he knew that wouldn't happen, so he walked up to Taki and told him that training would end after Aioshi got his punishment. Taki looked at him and asked, "what is his punishment?" "Taki, for once in my life, I honestly do not know. What do you suggest?" Taki wanted to save the team from any more pain, so he told Ren to have Aioshi's arms bound and make him crawl around the gym three times. Ren knew that was a punishment used for minor infractions, so when Aioshi showed up an hour later that was the punishment that Ren dished out. Ren didn't wait for the punishment to be over. He left and went to Kim's room, crawled in the bed where they slept the previous night and once again cried himself to sleep.
