Chapter Twenty Nine- Final Chapter
Cemetery
September 5, 2052
The Hourly Requiem for the Fallen from SAO is playing at the Touch Screen Radio. Many months have passed since we got out of the deadly game. A few years had passed since we are on level one and had just started the game. I remember buying potions and training. I remember wolves, kobold legions, seraphs, flowers and treants that used to explode into shards as we kill them. I remember the Big CONGRATULATIONS! and parties. I remember the Bladefist guild. I remember the NPCs that were killed when the monster attacked a village. I remember my skills that I use to slay a boss. I remember the last attack drops. I remember being a guild leader and I remember how the people sang as one when we are in the arena. I remember the joy of reaching the 100th floor which seems too impossible to reach.
We are sitting beside a grave. Ace had laid the cloth and we all sat. Ace had prepared food which was very good since I didn’t get to eat the real world food since.
“This is good, Ace. Good job.” Says Celine.
“Thanks. I mastered cooking a week ago.” Says Ace, laughing.
We all laughed, remembering how we brag in the game that we mastered a skill. I looked at my watch and looked at Ace and Celine.
“It’s time.” I said.
Celine lit up the candle at a cake that is shaped like Gen’s Chrono Heartsbane which was customized. Ace held the cake while I cleaned Gen’s grave.
Player of the Game, sparked a big change
Comforter, Philosopher and Lifelong Mate
Player of the Game, Sparked a Big Change
Rescued all the players in a deadly game
Everybody thanks the hero
Because you have bought us time
Oh fallen hero, we’ve killed him in the end.
We sang the chant that was made by the players and changed the lyrics. The chant died into a song of Happy Birthday and we greeted him. I know that somewhere, he is watching.
“I hope the others too have rested.” Says Ace, looking up.
“Yeah.” Says Celine.
The news had spread about us three. They say that we hacked the game so the GM died. Some say that we are Beaters. Some say that we have a very high level. Along with that came with a lot of names. The Golden Trio, The Strongest Three, Fiery Three, The Trinity and a lot more.
“I think we’ll have to move schools.” Says Ace.
“When are we going back to school?” I asked.
“As soon as an institution accepts the ‘Trinity’ “ says Celine as she stifle a laugh.
“Very genuine.” I said.
We stood up, removing the dirt we have gathered on the process of talking to Gen’s grave. We updated him about the casual news. We still talk to his grave as if he was still alive.
In the process, I’ve learnt a thing. You do know the importance of persons around you when they’re gone. SAO copies have been burned. Monuments have been built in honor of the players who have fought bravely on the deadly game. VRMMORPG games are still a trend but not SAO. No one ever played that game since. The GM was found dead in his house after the SAO world was deleted. The company that supported the game has been down by bankrupt. June 25 was set as the National SAO Remembrance Day where the families of the fallen go to monuments to give respect to the players who have fought since. And with that, Celine, Ace and I started a new life again. Without Skills to master, without swords and shield to Attack and Defend, Without armor to keep us safe. We only have one boss to fight: A crazy little Thing called Life.
