It had been two days since the attack. After Bard took the life of the leading spider the remaining spiders either fled or got killed by the elves. The healers were trying to heal the injured ones, but some were still lost.

Thranduil was busy trying to fix everything and trying to get the elves feel safe again. He was agitated and he hadn't slept since the attack. He was also worrying about Bard, the new king, who had saved his and many of his peoples lives.

Thranduil had found new kind of respect for Bard as a king and as a fighter. He visited Bard a few times a day and made the healers give him reports about his condition but they were always the same, Bard was unconscious  and they didn't know when he would wake up.

On the third morning since the attack Bard woke up. He opened his eyes and sat up. He felt like everything was spinning, he was hungry and thirsty.

A female healer elf walked inside of Bards recovery room and noticed Bard who was awake. "King of Dale! You are awake! Just a moment I will be back soon!" The healer hurried outside, Bard heard her say to a guard that he was awake and to notify Thranduil.

"What happened? why am I here?" Bard asked the returned healer.

"You got stung by a poisonous spider and after the adrenaline wore off you fainted. We managed to get the poison out but it still took you two days to wake up." She explained

"Two days? I was out for two days?"

"Yes, you were. We sent a message to Dale and we heard back that your family is coming here, In fact they should be here soon."

"Ah, i understand-" The healer started but didn't get to finish as Thranduil walked in the room.

"Get out." Thranduil said giving the healer an order.

"Yes, your Majesty. " The healer left in a hurry.

"She was only doing her job as a healer, why are you being so rude?" Bard asked

"Because I am a king, but i suppose you don't understand that, yet.."

Bard straightened his back "... Why have you come here Thranduil? I am alive, aren't I?"

"If you were to die here it would cause conflict and even the dwarves would interfere. And what comes to being alive, I don't like being in debt. Name your price king of Dale." Thranduil crossed his arms and waited for Bard to give him his answer.

Bard sighed and shook his head. "Fine, I want to stay here for a while and learn from you. That is my price Thranduil."

"Stop calling me by my name I am a king." He said

"So am. And I am on a hospital bed recovering after saving your life, I don't think using titles is mandatory. Now do we have a deal?" Bard asked.

"You want to learn...Our ways?" Thranduil closed his eyes and thought for a moment. "We have a deal, you can learn anything else but elvish." He agreed

Bard thanked Thranduil and when Thranduil turned away to leave the door opened and three children ran in.

"Father!" Bard's daughter Sigrid asked. All three of Bard's children ran up to him hugging him not caring about the king. So Thranduil left leaving Bard alone with his children.
