Bard and Legolas were walking along the lake they would be back in Dale soon. They had already been on the road for three days but they weren't tired. Well Bard was mentally exhausted, he had been thinking what happened with Thranduil and he was questioning everything. Why did he kiss him and why he kissed back. He had been trying to find an answer and when his thinking had started to show Legolas started to ask him what was wrong. That was when he had to stop, well for now atleast.
It was going to get dark soon and they still had to walk for a good while before they would be in Dale but neither said anything about taking a rest. Bard wanted to see his family as soon as he could and Legolas knew that.
"It is starting to get cold Legolas, we must hurry." Bard said.
"Yes, and luckily we are soon on the gates of Dale. It won't be long anymore." He answered walking faster.

Bard and Legolas finally got to the gates of Dale. They were walking toward the gates entrance while three men running towards them, probably the ones who were on watch this night.
"Who are you? What business do you have in Dale?" One of them yelled a sword in his hand.
"I am Bard the bowman and also the new king of Dale. This elf beside me is Prince Legolas of Mirkwood."
"Huh? Is it really his Majesty?" the second man asked while the other one came closer with a torch to see Bards and Legolas's faces. They on the other hand squeezed their eyes shut from the sudden light.
"It really is you your highness! Quickly go ring the bells, our king is back." The first man said to the third one. He ran towards the bell that was close to the entrance.
"That really isn't necessary -" Bard was trying to say but too late the bell already rang and he heard the man yell.
"The king is Back!!! Everyone our king is back!"
"Ack, I said that was not necessary!" Bard ran with Legolas inside of the gates and they were met with people, tired people who have clearly been awakened from their sleep. "Please all of you go back to sleep! I will have an announcement in the morning when all of you have slept." Bard tried to get all the people back to sleep.
"But my king, we have not seen you in a month. We all want to know how you are doing." an older woman said.
"Yes, and I will tell you but only after this night. I want you all to sleep well because I promise you we have work to do tomorrow."
"We have work to do? Did you make a contract with the Elvenking?" A young man yelled.
"If you must know now... I have a deal with the Elvenking. I will give you the details tomorrow morning, so please go back to sleep." Bard said in his last attempt.
There were some murmurs among the mankind but all of them turned around and walked towards their temporally homes and the ones who were on guard duty tonight went back to where they were supposed to be. Well all except three young ones.
"Huh? Bain? Sigrid? Tilda? Is that you?" Bard asked.
"Dad!" Tilda ran towards his father and Bard opened his arms taking her in giving her a warm hug.
"Hello my daughter, How have you been?"
"We have had so much fun, dad! Bain has taught me how to hold a sword." Tilda told with a great joy.
"Has he now?" Bard looked at his son who now had walked up to him with his sister. Bain looked a bit nervous. "Just remember to raise that sword to protect the weaker ones, okay?" Bard said to Tilda.
"I promise." she said nodding.
Bard opened his arms ones again. "Now the two of you come here, I haven't seen you in a while."
Bain and Sigrid also hugged their father.
"Father?" Bain asked
"Yes?"
"What is the prince of Mirkwood doing here?" He asked.
"I just needed to get away from home, and this was the perfect opportunity." Legolas quickly explained.
"I see." Bain nodded.
"Now why don't we all go to sleep. I am really tired and would love to sleep now." Bard said.
"Sure father, we already have a bed for you. But we do not have one for Legolas since we didn't know he would be coming." Sigrid said apologizing.
"It is fine. I can just sleep outside and keep watch." Legolas said.
"No Legolas, we will make you bed so that you can sleep it the same room as us as you have helped me a lot." Bard said
"Thank you Bard." Legolas nodded.
"It's really nothing, you have kept me company in Mirkwood and on our journey here, so I am grateful to you. Now let's all back to our new home." Bard took Tilda's hand all five of them started walking.
