It had been a few days since Thranduil visited Bard and told him the contract would soon be ready. Bard had been waiting patiently and to kill time he was spending most of his time in the library. Today however, he had decited to take a walk.
He was walking in the streets of Mirkwoods. While looking aroundhe saw how Mirkwood was more beautiful than before, even when the rebuilding wasn't ready.
As Bard was walking many of the elf's greeted him when walking by and some children even stopped by to ask him questions. The questions usually were about how he became a king and what was Dale like, but he didn't mind answering the same questions over and over again. He actually liked children very much and when his children were younger he used to tell them all kinds of stories. He enjoyed that and he loved to see the curiosity in his children's eyes when they were waitng how the story would continue.

Bard was walking towards the grand tree. The grand tree was really big and many birds flew around it but not even one dared to land on the tree. It seemed like everything knew how respect the tree.
Bard heard foot steps from behind him and turned around. It was an elf guard. "King of Dale? I have a word from his Majesty. You are summoned to write the trade contract in the throne room at this moment."
"Thank you for telling me. I shall get going immediately" Bard thanked the guard and the guard bowed. Then he started to walk towards the castle.
Bards month at Mirkwood would soon be over. He had been there for almost tree weeks but he was planning to leave after the contract was written. He was going to tell Thranduil about his plans to leave and he was sure he would understand after all Bard hadn't seen his children in a while and he really missed them.

Bard walked in front of a huge door and it was the door to the throne room. Two elf guards bowed to him and opened the door for him so Bard stepped inside of the huge room.
Inside the throne room was a table and around that table was standing Thranduil, of course, Legolas, Tauriel and a few other guards.
"Good evening" He greeted while walking toward the table. "Shall we get to the point?"
"Yes, we shall." Thranduil started. "I asked Legolas and Tauriel to be the ones to testify that you and me signed the contract."
"I understand. Could i see the contract?" Bard asked.
Thranduil gave the contract along with a pen to Bard, he read it over carefully finally nodding. "I agree with the terms and I hope we have great future ahead of us." Bard said signing the contract and giving it back to Thranduil.
"Good, we will send a word to Dale along with the contract-"
Bard cut Thranduil off. "No need Thranduil, I plan on going back to Dale and bring the news my self, I am sure the new people of dale will be pleased hear the news."
"You are leaving?" Legolas asked.
"How so soon?" Tauriel added.
"I have children in Dale and I miss them." Bard shortly explained.
"That is understandable." Tauriel said nodding.
Bard opened his mouth to speak but he wasn't quick enough. "Get out." Thranduil said with a kind of angry voice.
"Father?" Legolas asked surprised
"Everybody except Bard get out!" He commanded.
Tauriel took Legolas's hand and dragged him out of the throne room before they would get a lecture for not following orders. The guards also bowed and left in a hurry leaving Bard and Thranduil alone.
"What is it Thranduil? How come you are angry? You didn't think I would go back to Dale?"
Thranduil turned his back to Bard for a moment to think before turning back. He took a breath and walked towards Bard.
"Thranduil?" Bard took a step back but Thranduil was quicker. He grabbed Bards waist, leaned in and kissed Bard on the lips. Bards eyes were wide open from the shock but Thranduils were closed.
Bard let out a panicked noise, his hole world was shaking and weirdly the only thing calming him down was Thranduils long white eyelashes that looked beautiful.
Thranduil put his hand on Bards cheek while still holding his waist. Finally Bard relaxed and closed his eyes. He put his right hand on Thranduils shoulder and the kiss deepened.
Bard didn't know why he was kissing Thranduil or more that he didn't know why Thranduil was kissing him. When he was about to forget all that, he remembered two things. Firstly he was a man, secondly he was a king, and even worse Thranduil was also a king. Bard opened his eyes and jerked himself back so that he wasn't touching Thranduil.
Thranduil had opened his eyes and looked Bard in the eyes, he looked almost equally surprised as Bard. Both were red in the face, well Bard was at least. Thranduil was more like pink in the face as his skin was so white to begin with.
"I will back pack my belongings and leave to go back to Dale first thing in the morning. I shall make sure that we, the new people of Dale, will keep our part of the contract. Have a good evening your majesty." Bard turned around and walked quickly out of the the throne room leaving Thranduil alone in the big and quite empty room.
To be continued...
