Joshua P.O.V

It was the first day of college. It was raining so much and I was on the way to the class until I saw that girl running through the rain with her friend while having a bright smile on her face.

„Han Hyunjoo I told you let's wait till the rain stops now I am drenched in rain."

Han Hyunjoo is her name...

„Stop crying it's not that bad. The clothes will dry."

I couldn't move from place I kept looking in her direction and wanted to follow her inside but I was stopped.
„What are you doing?" Seungcheol placed his arm around my shoulder getting closer under the umbrella while the other members ran quickly inside because not all of them had an umbrella.
„I was-„ she was gone. all because of him. I looked at him and sighed.
„What did I do?"
„Nothing. But you can come on your own I am not sharing my umbrella." I walked away from him.

The next days I searched for her on campus and it seems that the members also realized that I was having a crush.
We sat outside eating lunch and at the table in front of us was Hyunjoo with her friend.
„I asked around what kind of boys Hyunjoo likes."
Jeonghan said and my attention shifted from Hyunjoo to him.

„Really?"
„Now he is looking." Woozi said.
„He is so gone. We lost him to her." Seungkwan said.
„Apparently she likes a kind, gentle man." Jeonghan said
„That suits me doesn't it?" I asked and everyone laughed.
„You seem nice on the outside but we all know how crazy you are Hong Jisoo." Vernon said.
„How about changing? Act like her ideal type and she might fall for you." Hoshi said.

From that day on I tried to be the nice, quiet and gentle guy and not the playful, crazy, Joshua. But that made everything worse. The whole college started liking me but her....

„She hates me." I said
„But why? You are acting like her ideal type or not?" Wonwoo asked.
„I heard her say something to her friend..." everyone looked at me with curiosity.
„She hates fake people and apparently she knows I am faking it." I said.
„But how?" Jun asked.
„I don't know. When I stop acting like that now she will hate me more."

I couldn't help but fall more and more for her. I couldn't do anything but watch her from afar. Her smile was something I had to see at least once a day to function. But I could only see that smile when I was far away. Whenever she sees me she looks with so much hate at me that it hurts. I try to stay away from her for that reason but we still see each other here and there.

Present

„Joshua wait."
„Oh hello." I said. It was a girl which I can't remember ever seeing.
„I- I wanted to give you this letter I hope you will read it."
„Thank you. I will make sure that I read it as soon as I am home." I said just so she leaves me alone.
„Thank you so much Joshua. See you tomorrow." I read the letter and walked out and stopped next to the garbage can. I threw the letter away. If only the letter would be from Hyunjoo. I would frame it and look at it every day.
„Yeah sure as if that will happen."

„My head is hurting from all their screams today.So annoying." I let out. The silence is music to my ears.
„Stop Joshua!" I heard and quickly moved around totally surprised. I thought I was alone!

She walked over and for the first time she was smiling in front of me. Must be because she finally caught me. After all I have been hiding it for 3 years.
„I caught you red handed." Yeah you did and I don't if I should be happy or worried. Because this is the first conversation we ever had but what if it's also the last one?

„I don't know what you are talking about?" I tried to play it off.
„I saw it all. The girl gave you the letter and you throwing it away. The change in your tone and saying they all annoyed you." Of course it doesn't work. I sighed and sat down on the bench because my legs gave in.

„So are you happy that you caught me now Hyunjoo?"
„Sure I am. I always knew it." I couldn't help but laugh because she was so cute.
„You have been after me for such a long time. Other people will think you like me." There my real personality started coming out. I don't care anymore. I want her to know the real me. At least she is talking now to me.

„You must be crazy! Me liking you? That will never happen." Yeah I know that very well.
„I know. So what do you want?"
„What I want?"

„Why are you acting fake like that?" She asked me.
„Everyone likes it don't they? When you are nice to them. Or at least I thought that. I couldn't get the attention of someone I wanted..." I said without thinking much.
„Who? A girl?" She asked curiously.
„Yeah a girl." I just said thinking she won't ask more but that wasn't the case.
„Who is she?" She got closer to me and I got flustered. What do I say?
„You must know her too. The most popular girl on campus...Kim Sora." I can't believe I said that.... She was the first one that came to my mind. After all I don't know any girl here. I am only interested in Hyunjoo and Sora was so popular that it was impossible not knowing her. She was so shocked that she didn't close her mouth.
„Close it or a fly will come in." I don't know where I got the courage from but I closed it for her and my heart was beating like crazy just because I touched her slightly.

„So all this just to impress a girl? You are amazing."
„Now I am amazing?"
„At least I know the reason now. I understand that you want to impress her but don't you think she would like you more if you act like yourself?"
„You think so?" She seemed more comfortable with me.After all she doesn't glare at me anymore. She was smiling and talking normally to me.
„I will help you if you want." I smiled. I am sure you won't help when you know it's you that I want.
„I will do it myself but thanks for the offer."
„Well I guess I should go now. Seulbi is texting me nonstop where I am."

„Wait. I just want to ask you... how did you know? I mean everyone else bought it just not you why?" I was really curious. I was always careful not to get caught.
„Hmmm because you told me your secret I will tell you mine too. I had too many fake people in my life so now I can recognize them even from afar."
„That bad?" She nodded. What kind of idiots hurt her so much??
„I am going now. See you tomorrow."

„When I catch those idiots who hurt you I won't let them live a comfortable life."....
