Your phone's insistent ringing jolted you awake from your nap. Glancing at the screen, you saw it was already 5:00 PM. Relief washed over you as you recognized your mother's contact name. Answering with a rushed "Ma?" you were met with a torrent of worry.

"Oh goodness, Y/N! Stacey's been calling non-stop. She says you got separated at the airport? Where are you?" Your mother's voice crackled with concern.

"Don't worry, Mom," you whispered, rising cautiously from the couch so as not to disturb Aiah, who had drifted off to sleep first – likely exhausted from the journey. You heard a sigh of relief through the phone.

You remembered Aiah fell asleep first, maybe tired from the byahe. You slept at the couch not wanting to invade the girl's personal space.

"Stacey can't reach you. She said her calls aren't going through."

"It might be a signal issue," you explained. "Everything seems fine now, though. I have a decent signal and Wi-Fi access."

"Where are you staying?" your mother pressed.

"At a hotel," you murmured, noticing Aiah stir slightly in her sleep. You walked towards the bathroom to minimize any further disturbance.

"Message Stacey on Messenger. She's been beside herself with worry," your mother advised.

"On it, Mom," you said before ending the call.

Launching the Messenger app, your phone momentarily sputtered under the weight of notifications. A wave of guilt washed over you as you saw 99+ unread messages from Stacey. You had been peacefully napping while your cousin worried herself sick.

With a deep breath, you began crafting a message to Stacey.

You: Staks, we're in a hotel rn. Please don't worry na.

Stacey: Bruh, hinahanap namin kayo kanina sa airport, nauna kayo

You: Nasan kayo?

Stacey: Nasa venue na.

You: Punta na kami. Malayo ba?

Stacey: Kung malapit lang kayo sa airport, malayo.

Stacey: I messaged Ezra kanina nagpahelp hanapin kayo. Message ko sabihin ko nasa hotel kayo para sunduin kayo dyan.

You: (like)

Emerging from the bathroom, you found Aiah still peacefully slumbering. You couldn't help but admire her serenity, a smile gracing your lips.

Just a minute later, your phone buzzed with an incoming call. It was Ezra, your older cousin. You and Stacey used to play with him back in the day, but his family moved to Palawan when he started junior high.

"Ez?" you greeted, answering the call.

"Y/N! Finally! We've been worried sick, kanina ko pa kayo hinahanap" he exclaimed.

"Yeah, sorry about that, Ez," you apologized.

"No worries, cuz. Just send me your location. I'll take you and your friend to our family rest house s south."

"Wait, I thought you'll take us kanila Stacey?" you clarified.

"Nope, tomorrow pa. Sa rest house na kayo magpalipas ng gabi cos malayo pa yung venue ninyo," he explained before ending the call.

With a gentle nudge, you roused Aiah from her sleep. "Yang, wake up. Ezra's coming to pick us up."

Aiah mumbled something unintelligible and rolled over, burying her face deeper into the pillow.
