The entire day was dedicated to songwriting for your collaboration with BINI. Management had informed you it would be a three-part song, prompting the idea of weaving a story through the music.
"So, anong klaseng story?" Sheena inquired, glancing around the room.
"Hmm, maybe love?" Colet offered tentatively.
"I don't think just a love story can carry three parts," Syd countered.
"Lagyan natin ng malalang twist," Maloi chimed in.
"What if it's from three different perspectives – each song a different point of view?" You suggested, receiving nods of agreement from everyone.
"What's the twist?" Donny asked, curious about the direction.
"Lalaki nangabit," Zild blurted out with a laugh, taking a bite of his pizza.
"That's actually a good twist," Mikha admitted, surprised by the suggestion.
"The first song can be the guy's perspective, the second the girl's, and the third the other woman's," you elaborated, and the room buzzed with approval.
"Let's form three groups and compose separately," Aiah proposed, earning nods from everyone.
The tension between you and Aiah since arriving at Donny's unit remained thick. You offered her a smile, but she responded with a dismissive eye roll.
"Alright, magkaroup na kami ni Bebe." Gwen declared, wrapping her arm around Sheena, making Colet, Aiah, and Stacey to shook their heads.
"Ugh, bunutan na naman ba?" Maloi groaned, tired of picking names randomly.
Following the BINI's usual routine, everyone scribbled their names on separate pieces of paper. Colet volunteered to pick four names to form the first group.
"Okay, here goes," Colet announced, shuffling the papers in a mug before reaching in and selecting four slips. "Maloi, me, Gwen, and Syd."
Gwen grumbled, disappointed not to be grouped with Sheena.
"Second group," Colet continued, shuffling the papers again. This time, she picked Mikha, Zild, Jhoanna, and Donny.
"Last group is Y/N, Aiah, Sheena, and Stacey," Colet announced. You glanced at your group members, then noticed your cousin Stacey already fast asleep on the couch. With a playful nudge, you threw a throw pillow at her.
Stacey jolted awake, startled. "What? What?" she panicked, eliciting a wave of laughter from everyone.
The task of composing the song's perspective of the girl who got cheated on fell to you, Aiah, Sheena, and Stacey.
"Kaya niyo na yan guys." Stacey said dramatically, flopping onto the couch with a sigh. You and Aiah rolled your eyes at her theatrics.
Sheena chimed in with a suggestion. "How about this, Ate Aiah and Ate Y/N, let's write parts individually? Then pick tayo ng best one and if they're good naman pareho, we can combine them!"
You and Aiah both nodded in agreement. Inspiration struck, and each of you began crafting lyrics, pouring your hearts and souls into capturing the essence of betrayal a feeling that is familiar to you.
Once everyone finished writing, it was time to share your creations. Sheena volunteered to go first.
"Dancin' in your Levi's
Drunk under a streetlight,
Hand under my sweatshirt
Baby, kiss it better,
A friend to all is a friend to none
Chase two girls, lose the one
When you are young, they assume you know nothing," Sheena recited with a melody in her voice. The you and Aiah erupted in applause. "That's great, Sheens!" Aiah complimented.
You chimed in, adding, "True, ganda nung line na 'chase two girls, lose the one.'" You couldn't help but steal a glance at Aiah as you spoke.
Her gaze snapped up, meeting yours momentarily. "Anong tinitingin tingin mo?" she asked, a sharp edge to her voice.
You chuckled. "Wala, baka lang nakarelate ka." You mumbled.
Aiah's eyes narrowed. "May pinaparating ka ba?!" she shot back, her voice laced with a mixture of anger and something deeper.
Sensing the rising tension, Sheena intervened. "Tama na mga ate, wag kayo mag away," she pleaded. Aiah simply rolled her eyes at you before turning away.
Sheena gestured towards you, "Ikaw na, Ate Y/N."
You cleared your throat and began to recite, your voice thick with emotion.
"Playing hide-and-seek and
Giving me your weekends,
Your heartbeat on the High Line
Once in twenty lifetimes,
And when I felt like I was an old cardigan
Under someone's bed
You put me on and said I was your favorite."Your eyes drifted towards Aiah as you recite, but she refused to meet your gaze, a storm of guilt brewing beneath the surface. The memory of her accepting Joao's courtship proposal while still having feelings for you gnawed at her conscience.
Sheena cleared her throat again, breaking the heavy silence. "Ate Aiah, ikaw na."
Aiah took a deep breath before starting her verse. Her voice held a tremor of regret as she recited.
"To kiss in cars and downtown bars
Was all we needed
You drew stars around my scars
But now I'm bleedin'
'Cause I knew you
Steppin' on the last train
Marked me like a bloodstain,
Tried to change the ending
Peter losing Wendy,
I knew you
Leaving like a father
Running like water."The weight of her words hung heavy in the air. Aiah couldn't bring herself to look at you. She knew it was her fault, her action that said yes to Joao, that ultimately led to you leaving like a father and ran like water.
"They're all good," Sheena declared, earning a nod from you.
"Let's combine them then," you suggested, and Sheena readily agreed.
Sheena left you and Aiah alone in the living room. Aiah promptly moved to the empty couch next to Stacey and sprawled out.
You glanced at the clock – it was already 11 PM. Maybe the girls would be staying the night. By midnight, it wouldn't be safe for them to travel home alone.
As Sheena entered the kitchen, she found Maloi, Colet, Gwen, and Syd still engrossed in writing their parts.
"We're done," Sheena announced to the group.
"Sana all," Maloi grumbled.
"We're not even halfway yet, bebe," Gwen pouted at Sheena, who responded by snaking her arm around Gwen's waist in a comforting gesture.
"Kaya niyo yan!" Sheena offered encouragement.
"Musta working with those two?" Colet asked with a chuckle.
"Nag aaway nga eh. Parang mag asawa," Sheena replied with a laugh.
"Ganyan talaga yan sila, even back when they first met at the camp, right?" Maloi chimed in, eliciting agreement from the others.
