You and Aiah spent a week in Cebu. There, you discovered that Aiah had inherited a tiny island from her late grandfather. Aiah's family, including you and Aiah, set off for the island. After a three-hour journey in a skimmer, driven by Aiah's father, you finally arrived. Despite being described as tiny, the island surprised you with its size as you stepped onto the shore.

King, Aiah's mother, and father disembarked from the skimmer first. You followed them out, helping Aiah safely down. A stunning modern beach house greeted you. Large windows offered panoramic views of the turquoise water, and the open floor plan created a sense of airy spaciousness. The scent of salty air mingled with the fresh paint of the house.

"Wow, your place is huge!" you exclaimed, nudging Aiah playfully.

"It's not mine technically," she said, trying to be humble.

You followed her inside, the vastness of the house hitting you as you entered. The interior boasted a sleek, modern design. Paintings adorned the walls, adding pops of color and personality. Aiah's father walked beside you, stopping to point at a painting. "Aiah painted that when she was eight," he said with pride. She really do have a talent on paintings.

You smiled and studied the painting before you. It was a portrait of a single red rose, but something peculiar caught your eye. Depending on the angle, the rose seemed to transform. Viewed from the left, it bloomed vibrantly, full of life. Yet, a shift to the right revealed a wilting bloom, its petals tinged with the beginnings of decay.

Aiah stood beside you and her father when she noticed your focus on the painting. You turned to face her, a smile playing on your lips.

"It's about life, you know," she said, nudging your shoulder playfully.

You gave her a nod, intrigued. "Life?"

"Yeah," she continued, her voice taking on a thoughtful tone that seemed unusual for someone her age. "You bloom, become this strong, vibrant thing - you think you'll have forever. But then, inevitably..."

Her voice trailed off, a flicker of something unreadable crossing her features before a quick smile returned. You chuckled softly. "You painted this when you were eight, right? How did you even think about things like that back then?"

Aiah's smile faltered for a brief moment, a hint of sadness momentarily clouding her bright eyes. She shrugged, the lightness returning to her voice. "Who knows? Maybe I was just an old soul."

Aiah draped her arm around your shoulder and led you on a tour of the beach house. It was surprisingly spacious, making you wonder why it wasn't lived in more often. She led you out back, revealing a stunning backyard that resembled a forest. Lush trees towered overhead, and the air buzzed with the cheerful chirping of birds.

Suddenly, Aiah's mother's voice called out from the balcony above. You and Aiah exchanged a glance before heading inside. You found her on the second floor, overlooking the living room.

"Aiah! Y/N!" she called again, her voice laced with urgency.

"What's wrong, Ma?" Aiah asked, concern etching lines on her forehead. You followed close behind as she hurried inside the house.

Aiah's mother met you in the living room, her expression serious. "There's an emergency, mga anak," she explained. "We need to head back to Cebu."

You looked at Aiah, whose face mirrored your own worry. "Emergency about what, Ma?"

"At the restaurant," Aiah's father chimed in as he entered the room.

"We'll leave you two here," he continued.
