Aiah received two phone calls the next morning. One was from her manager, fuming about the social media fiasco and calling off the PR stunt with Joao. The other was from her mother, requesting Aiah's return to Cebu.
You accompanied Aiah on the trip to Cebu. As the plane landed and they exited the airport, Aiah's eyes scanned the crowd, searching for a familiar face. Suddenly, she spotted her brother waiting outside.
"Kuya!" she yelled, her voice filled with relief and excitement. A broad smile lit up her face as her brother broke into a run, their reunion culminating in a warm embrace.
"Maraiah, I missed you," her brother said, his voice thick with emotion as he pulled back.
"I missed you too, Kuya," Aiah replied, her grip tightening around your arm as she introduced you. "Kuya, this is Y/N. Y/N, this is my brother King."
King's gaze shifted to you, and a hint of amusement flickered in his eyes. He extended a hand towards you, his grip firm as he said, "So, you're Y/N."
You offered a hesitant handshake, the intensity of his gaze making you slightly nervous. Aiah seemed to sense your unease, her hand finding yours reassuringly.
"Kuya, don't be like that," she said with a playful nudge.
King chuckled, the tension dissipating. "Just messing with you, Y/N," he said, patting your shoulder in a friendly manner. "Though, I gotta warn you, you're in for it with Mom and Dad."
He led the way towards his car, the car ride filled with playful banter as King and Aiah teased each other like siblings often do. You watched them interact, a warmth spreading through your chest as you witnessed Aiah's joy in being back home with her family.
You reached their home, a two-story house with a welcoming atmosphere. Plants overflowed on the porch, and fairy lights twinkled above the doorway. Aiah's brother opened the gate, leading you across a pathway lined with colorful pebbles.
Just before you reached the door, a middle-aged couple emerged from the house. Aiah's face lit up with a joyful smile.
"Mommy, Daddy!" she cried, rushing into their arms. They embraced her tightly, their eyes flickering towards you with a mix of curiosity and concern.
A faint knot of nervousness twisted in your stomach. Aiah's mother squeezed her daughter's hand and ushered her inside, her brother grabbed your bags and pat your shoulder reassuringly before following them.
Aiah's father stood alone on the porch, his gaze fixed on you. You hesitated, unsure whether to greet him.
"So, you're Y/N," he finally spoke, his voice gruff but not unkind.
You met his eyes and nodded. "Yes sir, it's nice to meet you."
"I'm Dick," he introduced himself, extending a hand. You shook it firmly. "Aiah mentioned you."
A beat of silence hung in the air.
"Seryoso ka ba sa bunso ko?"
Your heart pounded a little faster but you managed to give him a nod. "Yes sir, I am."
He studied you intently for a moment. "Do you love her?"
You held his gaze. "Yes, I do. But I haven't told her yet."
He gave a curt nod and surprisingly, stepped closer. He placed a hand on your shoulder, his grip surprisingly light.
"Tell her, Y/N. Make sure she knows she's loved. I want her to feel that she's loved" He pulled you in slightly, a hint of protectiveness in his tone.
