A Sunflower between roses

A sunflower amidst roses was planted,
Among them, it grew, undaunted.
Equal care to all was granted,
Yet the sunflower felt stranded.

“Why am I so different?” It wondered
“No one there like me?” It pondered.
It tried to mimic the roses, in despair,
But its red petals soon fell, bare.

But while the roses wilted in pain,
The sunflower thrived, without disdain.
Recognizing its beauty and worth,
It vowed to stay true to its warmth.

Never again would it try to change,
Its nature it wouldn't disarrange.
While the roses wilted on the ground,
The sunflower shone in its own sound.
