Friday Fusion: Grant

For about two years, my siblings and I attended a school called Christian Community School, or CCS for short. Now we didn't actually go to the school, we went on Fridays with other kids who also went on Fridays and our group was called Friday Fusion.

Friday Fusion was basically school but we only went on Fridays. There was everything you'd have in a normal school there except it was only the parts people actually enjoy. There was art, gym, recess, lunch, music, etc.

I have a lot of stories from attending this school and there will be more to come in the future but for this story, I'm going to be talking about when a boy supposedly had a crush on me.

My dad and Lainee say this boy had a crush on me but I don't know for sure so take this information and make your own assumptions because I truly don't know if he liked me or not.

In Friday Fusion, because we attended the school it was inevitable that we'd bump into kids that actually went to the school. Thinking about it, we did most activities with the CCS kids but we still did some by ourselves.

Because I was seeing all of these kids on a weekly basis some of them were becoming familiar to me. Most of the time I struggle with making friends so I was mid friends with everyone from Friday Fusion and not friends whatsoever with the kids that actually attended CCS.

There was a boy named Lucas who used to go with us on Friday Fusion but started going to CCS the next year so I'm not 100% sure if that counts as being friends with a CCS kid, but this story isn't about Lucas.

One day my mom, Lainee, and I decided to go to the park to run around and play on the playground. Now I was still in 3rd-4th grade so around this time was the time where you'd go to a park, meet a kid your age, hang out, then go home and completely forget about each other the next day.

Lainee and I met a boy named Grant and a girl whose name I can't remember at the park and we played and had fun. Though whenever I looked at Grant his face seemed so familiar. I didn't pay it any mind and continued to hang out. It wasn't until I attended Friday Fusion again when, during recess, we found each other.

I went up to him and asked, "Do I know you? You seem so familiar." He nodded and we talked with each other until the next class started. We gave each other our Roblox usernames and we went home.

We didn't do anything with each other's usernames until we met online Thursday night a week later. I can't remember what the game was called but the premise was that you had to make a boat then sail off on a river where obstacles would attack and destroy your boat and you had to try to make it to the end without dying.

Obviously we didn't win and the next day went to CCS and immediately found each other during recess. We started talking again and one of Grant's friends came over behind him and said, "Hey, are you talking to your girlfriend?!"

Grant was left flustered and squealed out a, "N-No!" I just stood by with my arms crossed and watched the whole thing because what was I supposed to do?

During lunch we sat down together and started eating. While we were talking he asked me, "Hey, who's your crush?" Because I've only ever had three crushes in my entire life and no longer like them I said, "I don't have a crush. Who's your crush?"

Grant looked around nervously and said, "I-I can't tell you." I narrowed my eyes at him and asked, "Why?" He licked his lips and answered with, "Because the last time I told someone he said it to the entire school and there's over 500 people here!"

I agreed it was a reasonable answer and I continued eating lunch. When I'd made it to music, the last class of the day, I stood next to Grant in front of the stage with the rest of the class while we were singing hymns and practicing songs.

In between a song, he turned to me and said, "Hey, Lillyan, this is you and Hunter!" He started making kissing motions with his hands and Hunter looked at him awkwardly. To give you some context Hunter was a boy that went to CCS and he was the type of boy where everyone had a crush on him.

Because I'd only had glances at Hunter and never actually got to know him, I was very confused. I got back home and told my dad everything he did and my dad said, "Yeah, that kid definitely has a crush on you."

Eventually too many kids started attending and the drama got on me and my siblings' nerves so we left and moved to Kentucky a year later. Now that I'm back in Ohio I was disappointed to learn that the school of CCS has been shut down.
