Friday Fusion: Dominic and The Red Chair

During music class at Friday Fusion, the final class of the day, there were a bunch of columns of chairs to sit in, facing a small auditorium with a stage. My class always sat on the left side of the columns because that was where the music teacher was.

I can't remember his name but he was an old man with a guitar and I loved him very much. We'll call him John. John was cool, could play the guitar well, could sing, and wasn't afraid to punish misbehaving children.

Children like Dominic.

Dominic was younger than everyone so of course he was rowdy and misbehaved. During music class we would choose our seat and listen to whatever the teacher told us to do and sing whatever songs he played. If we wanted to we could sit beside our friends but that didn't work out in Dominic's favor today.

There was a girl in my class named Riley who was cool and nice but a bit shy. She had a younger brother around Dominic's age and I didn't know him that well because he didn't talk much. Me not knowing his name explains pretty well how good of friends we were.

Anyway, because Dominic and Riley's brother were so close in age they became friends. Dominic talked a lot. A LOT. He didn't know when to stop talking and that did not fly with John. I also talk a lot but I know when to keep my mouth shut and do what I'm told. Dominic, however, didn't.

On either side of the auditorium, three red chairs sat spaced out and alone. Whenever someone was misbehaved John would send them to The Red Chair. If they continued to misbehave John would take them to The Dungeon. (AKA the principal's office)

Music class started and because I have no friends, I went and sat by myself somewhere in the columns. Dominic and his friend sat together and began talking. John started talking and we began to sing.

Dominic kept talking and wasn't paying attention which, honestly, would get on anyone's nerves. John gave Dominic and his friend a warning to stop talking and pay attention. Class went on and we kept singing with Dominic still talking.

Finally, John had enough and sent Dominic and his friend to The Red Chair. We continued on singing with Dominic looking like he was gonna burst into tears at any moment.

Remember how I said the chairs were spaced out? They probably designed it that way so the kids wouldn't be able to talk to each other but Dominic found a way to cheat the system. He scooted his chair over to his friend and started talking to him AGAIN.

I am not joking in the slightest, he actually did that.

Because John's back was turned from the chairs he didn't see him but all of the other kids told him and before I knew it, John took Dominic's arm and brought him into The Dungeon.

We didn't see him again until after class.
