Whenever I would enter a new grade, I usually was put in the same classes as the kids from the previous year. There was one kid I was put with every year, and his name was Frankie.
I'm gonna say this in the nicest way I can; he was behind his grade level, so no one wanted to hang out with him, but he didn't get the message and caused a lot of chaos.
I was raised to be nice and welcoming to everyone {Now if someone looks at me wrong I'll bite them but whatever}, so of course I always attempted to be kind to him as well, but eventually I came to the conclusion that I didn't really wanna be around him either.
I wasn't mean, he was just always in a bad mood and that put me in a bad mood so I didn't enjoy being around him. 5-year-old me had her priorities straight, can you blame her?
There was a kid in my second grade class named either Trey or Troy, I can't remember. I used to chase him around on the playground and that was about the only time we interacted with each other.
Side story: For Christmas one year my grandma bought my siblings and I mini arcade machines that each had their own game. Lainee's game was Pac-Man, mine was Q*bert, and Logan's was Wreck-It Ralph.
Before my class would be called to leave, we would all sit on the carpet and talk. I was sitting next to Trey/Troy and he said he had a mini arcade machine with Wreck-It Ralph on it. I told him that Logan had the same thing and we agreed to bring our arcade machines to school the next day to play them together.
Logan let me bring his to school and before I knew it, we were waiting on the carpet at the end of the day. I pulled mine out of my backpack and it was really old and slow and unfortunately didn't work anymore.
I was disappointed, but Trey/Troy let me play on his until we were called into the next room. A few seconds after I'd started playing it, Frankie saw and he wanted to play.
He crossed the carpet and instead of asking to play next round, he crawled directly on top of me while screaming over and over, "IT'S MY TURN!"
My poor substitute teacher had to pry Frankie off of me and make sure I was okay. Trey/Troy's arcade machine was taken by the teacher though.
That same day, hours earlier, I was walking up from my desk and I guess Frankie was mad at me so he picked his nose and wiped it on me which was disgusting.
There was this other time when we were doing a project on our own. I didn't get to finish mine before recess and neither did Frankie so my teacher stayed with us two until we finished our project so she could lead us outside to play.
All I remember having to do was to glue pieces of paper to a certain answer, I think. I don't really remember.
Frankie was sitting right next to me and most of the time he struggled doing anything, so when he showed me his work, even though he did it completely wrong I told him he did a good job.
He said, "I'm gonna go show {whatever my teacher's name was} and see what she thinks," and stood up. My heart dropped into my stomach.
I continued to work while I heard the other two talk. I looked up and saw my teacher annoyed and Frankie upset. He suddenly pointed at me and my teacher looked at me and I immediately focused back on my work.
I wonder if Frankie ever finished that project.
