REYNA

I drag the fork around the tasteless eggs. I've already had enough of this "breakfast" or whatever they call it.

"Good morning, how are you feeling?" Nurse Campbell bursts through the door and greets me with a her beautiful smile on display.

"Morning." I dryly respond.

She looks down at my plate. "What, you're not hungry?"

"No ma'am. But my arm kind of itches." I lightly run on the bandage that is wrapped around my arm.

"Did you take the pain killers? That should help with that."

"Yes, I just did." I tell her.

"Well give it time, honey."

"Yeah.. It surely is taking it's time to work." I complain. She laughs before telling me she has more errands to run around the hospital and that the doctor should be checking up on me later on.

I begin to feel nauseous again which I'm one of the side effects of the painkillers that the doctor prescribed. Before I get to close my eyes and hopefully fall back asleep, June comes through the door with a bag in hand and in a small grin on his face.

Not in the mood for visitors.. At all.

"How you feeling?" He says. "I bought you some breakfast." June opens the bag and arranges the pancakes, eggs and sausage he bought from McDonald's on the tray in front of me.

"Thank you."

He shrugs. "No problem. I know how nasty hospital food can be." We stay in silence while I eat my breakfast and June, occupied by his cell phone. The phone starts to ring. He stands up and takes the call.

I only hear snippets of his conversation. "Yeah, what's up? You got the stuff?... Good, good. I'm in room 456."

He turns to me and says, "I'll be back, ight? Don't move." I nod as a response. I finish eating my food and set the tray on the table near my head. I feel exhausted and drained. My head is pounding. It feels like someone is driving a screw driver into my head.

The pain in my arm slightly subsided but it still feels a little tangly. I turn off the TV, close my eyes and attempt to fall asleep. I can hear low voices on the other side of the door. I can't really make out what they are saying so I give up on eavesdropping.

Minutes later, June bursts back into the room. I roll my eyes. Can I get some rest, please? I don't want company. At all!

"Yo, shorty. I'll be back, alright? Get some rest." Finally!

I watch June exit the room and sink down on the hospital bed. I close my eyes for what feels like less than a minute when an ambulance truck begins to wail outside. Are you serious?

I peek through the blinds of the window behind me. The paramedics are determined on getting the injured person who is stretched on a gurney, out of the truck and into the hospital. Not too far from the truck, June is walking along side of another man in the parking lot. The man looks really familiar but June's tall figure is blocking the unknown man's face.

The man and June part ways and I get a good look at the man's face. No way...

That's Bonez. The same Bonez I know. But what is he doing with June? Does he know I'm here? Is he in on this too? Or maybe he has no clue?

Same way, some how I know I have to try my best to in touch with him soon. He might be my ticket out of this whole thing after all.
