REMI
"What happened?!" I scream, running into the hospital. Robyn is slumped on a chair at the waiting area. Blood is splattered all over her face and hair. Even though her clothes are all black, I can still tell they are blood-stained as well.
Her head is hung low with her feet and hands dangling off the chair, almost falling out.
No one bothers to speak to me. This angers me."What's going on? Can someone say something? What happened?" My father's head pops up and look as if he is about to say something but someone beats him to it.
"I'll like to get to the bottom of this too." A white, bald and slightly overweight man appears from behind. His partner, a tall slim Hispanic man steps up also.
He flashes his badge. "I'm detective Hodges and this," he gestures to his partner. "Is my partner, Detective Peña. I will like to ask all of you a few questions."
My father stands on his feet, tall and proud. "We will not be discussing anything with you or your partner without our lawyer present."
"And when will you be in contact with this lawyer?"
"Soon. And don't worry, I won't let you know. Now please, our family will like to mourn in peace."
Mourn in peace? Mourn for who? Who died? I'm so confused. Thinking of Reyna dying causes my throat to close up and for my mouth to get extremely dry. My heart beat quickens by the second.
"We'll be back in touch." Detective Hodges says and exits the waiting area with his partner on his tail.
Once both of the detectives are out of ear shot, I turn to my father."What happened? Do we have Reyna? Why is there blood all over you guys? Why is Robyn paralyzed?" I look over at my oldest sister and sigh. She looks ready to die. She's never looked so worn out.
"Slow down, Remi. I'll explain everything later. Just sit tight."
"Just sit tight? Are you serious? Is my sister okay or not? Please tell she's not dead." I raise my voice.
"DAD! ANSWER ME! PLEASE, DAD..." I wipe away tears. "Please tell me she's okay."
My father wraps his arms around me and I lay my chest on the crook of his head and allow my tears to fall freely. He rubs my back. "She'll be okay. Please stop crying. She'll be back to the usual in no time. Dry your eyes, baby girl."My nerves are calmer but I'm still on edge. I use my father's response and make my self believe that Reyna is okay and she'll be home soon.
Itake a seat next to Robyn. I nudge her. She doesn't move, blink or even bother to look at me. She looks lost and at a trance. I can't make out how she's feeling. But I do know that whatever happened, has her on edge.
My father, Robyn and I sit in silence until Chaz makes himself known.
"Hey, Rem. What's up?" As a response, I stare at him then nod my head at his direction. He goes over to Robyn and tries to get her to sit up and leave with him. She pretends she doesn't hear him. He keeps trying and that's when she gets uncontrollable and wild.
"DON'T TOUCH ME! LEAVE ME ALONE! I TOLD YOU I'M NOT LEAVING WITHOUT MY BABY SISTER!" She kicks and screams. My dad and Chaz are having a hard time to restrain her but fail miserably.
Not a minute later, security comes and retrains her from the waiting area but without her assaulting the officers. She drives her nails deep on one of the officer's neck and chokes him until another one pries her hands away. She also left scratches that will eventually leave scars. The more people that surround her, the crazier she gets. They pin her down while a nurse injects a substance into her arm. She goes ballistic but a few second later, she weakens and looses all of her strength then passes out.
