ROBYN

"Are you sure it'll look okay?" I bite my lip, uncertain as I look at my reflection in the mirror.

"Yes, it will. No worries. They won't even suspect you and plus a new look wouldn't hurt." Brittany says. After she dropped Remi off to school and CJ at pre-school, we met at the Top Cuts hair salon. I insisted.

"Yeah, I know. But I love my hair, Brittany. I don't know..." I weave my hands through my long wet hair.

"Your hair is beautiful and it's still going to be beautiful. Trust me." Yeah, I don't know about all that yet!

I sigh and give up. "Okay, fine. Just cut it. Let's get it over with already." Tracy, the lady that is doing my hair picks up the scissors and my heart stops. No, never mind I can't do this.

She separates my wet hair into three sections and begins working The sound of her scissors and the clippers clipping my hair away makes me cringe and bite my tongue in fear. Watching clumps of hair fall at my feet literally breaks my heart into pieces.

I've never cut my hair unless it was a trim. I love my long hair that all three of us inherited from both parents. My father had long curly hair which he recently cut to a short Caesar cut but still has a head full of waves. My mother had naturally bone straight hair that reached down to her back.

Yeah, the Taylor family admires nice hair. That's what we live for.

"All done!" Tracy announces. She turns the chair towards the mirror. I'm scared to look.

"Aw, Robyn! It's looks nice!" Brittany beams. I'm still too afraid to look. My hands go up to my hair and I freak the fuck out.

"Brittany, I'm bald headed!" I shriek.

"No you are not. Look at it,"

I slowly peel my hands from my face and stare at my reflection in the mirror. "Oh. My. Gosh." I am bald headed but it surprisingly looks good. I can't believe it actually doesn't look bad. The hair cut even enhances my narrow chin.

Damn, I look sexy! I look so different though. I wonder if Remi is going to like it or King... It's sad how my world still revolves around him and can't stop thinking about him. I find myself missing him every single minute.

I shake the thoughts of King out of my head and thank Tracy. "It really looks nice, thank you Tracy."

I pay for my hair do and make sure I don't leave the salon without slipping Tracy a generous twenty dollar tip. My phone rings as soon as I step out the salon. It's Syn. I've worked with her before and she's great at what she does. She's worked with King and many different people too. Her ears are always in the streets with the best credible sources.

"Yeah, what's up?"

"I got some information for you." She tells me.

"Meet me at the little coffee shop out south. I got some business I need to handle down there."

"I'll be there in thirty." I hang up, already hyped about what information she gathered about Jason and any other goons he's working with.

I turn to Brittany. "I'll catch up with you later. I got work to do."

She eyes me. "Stay safe, Robyn."

"I will. See you later." I wave to her before getting in my car. I might get a new car soon, I kind of want to sport a new Benz. It'll be a better look to match my fierce new look.

I get to the Ena's Coffee Bristo in thirty minutes. Syn is here like promised and flags me down over to her table.

"I ordered you a caramel macchiato already."
