I was visibly annoyed as Dottore walked closer to me, his metal boots clinking on the marble flooring. I crossed my arms and gave him an uninterested look. He chuckled before he spoke in an amused tone.

"So I heard you have a new toy to play with? "

Dottore snickered. He was obviously talking about Haru. Usually I wouldn't be bothered by him calling any of subordinates 'toys' or anything dehumanizing at all but for some reason I could feel myself getting rather annoyed this time.

"Ah yes, a new 'toy' as you put it."

If I felt any irritation at the way Dottore was referring to Haru, I didn't show it. Instead, I remained calm and aloof.

"She is quite a competent and clever woman. I do enjoy ordering her around. " I spoke nonchalantly.

Dottore smirked as he played with a small test tube that glowed blue.

"I heard she has a broken vision." He stated as if he was telling me that he knew about this.

I knew Dottore kept a lot of tabs on me but I didn't expect him to know this about her, especially since she refrained from telling anyone about it, which is, in my opinion a wise choice.

"And why does that interest you?" I asked Dottore with an unimpressed look on my face although I knew where this was going. Dottore smiled at me with a smug expression.

"A broken vision is a perfect candidate for experimentation."

I knew it. He always did this. If he found someone that interested him, he always asked me or any other harbingers to send the person to his lab.

I looked at him with a cold and unamused stare.

"And why would I let you experiment on my new 'toy'?" I asked, my tone was harsh and I was clearly annoyed.

I knew how his experiments went. The way he treats his subjects is as if they were nothing more than objects of study. He didn't care about the wellbeing of anyone he was experimenting on, he only cared about the results. As a puppet, I had managed to withstand all of his rigorous testing and modifications but I wasn't so sure that sending Haru over would end the same way.

"Because there is much to learn about a broken vision. I have never heard of one being broken before. And she is the perfect specimen to see how it works." Dottore snickered.

I felt uneasy for some reason. I didn't like the idea of giving Haru away for experimentation even if it could be useful. I felt some sort of ownership over her after having her work under me for a while now. I couldn't help but want her by my side, safe and sound.

"She has barely started to learn to use it properly. The results would not be accurate if you experimented on her now, would they?" I was trying to make a valid point.

I was starting to feel some sort of attachment towards her, even if I had no intention of admitting it.

"Oh? What's this? Don't tell me you have started to care for this anomaly. You don't want her to be experimented on? "

Dottore laughed mockingly at me.

The thought of being attached to Haru seemed absurd to me. However, it was clear that something had changed now. I found myself unwilling to let her be experimented on.

"I simply believe it's too soon for this. Even if she does have a broken vision, she is still learning to use it properly. The results would not be accurate if she was experimented on now." My tone was firm, but there was a note of reluctance, and the hint of an underlying emotion.
