The next few days were the happiest I had been in a long time. Everything seemed to be going well without me having to worry about him giving me any absurd orders like he used to. He was anything but affectionate though, he enjoyed teasing me more now just to see my reactions. I couldn't find myself getting irritated by this, he seemed to be enjoying himself and it made me happy. At least it was better than his usual cold personality.
I was going through some letters in his office when I saw him glancing at me a few times. He had been doing this a lot but this time it was slightly different. I am guessing it was mostly because he had my desk moved closer to his the day before. Now my desk was adjacent to his. I cleared my throat.
"Ahem, don't you have work to do, Lord Scaramouche? " I didn't look up from the papers in front of me.
"Ah yes, that reminds me, I have something to show you. "
It was as if he was waiting for me to say something. He smirked as he placed an envelope on my desk. I was a little suspicious as to what he was up to as I opened the letter, occasionally glancing at him through the corner of my eye as I read the letter. The letter was from Lady Signora and read that she was arriving in Ritou in 2 days time and that she expected to meet Scaramouche in Inazuma city to discuss a plan.
"You want me to come along? " I asked with a raised eyebrow. It didn't make sense for me to go with him as Signora only wanted to see him.
"Why not? After all, a Harbinger needs his assistant. " He snickered.
"Hm.. " I thought that he was just finding an excuse to take me with him but I didn't call him out on it.
"So you better pack your bag, we are leaving for Narukami Island in the morning. "
"Wait, isn't she coming in 2 days time? Why are we leaving so soon? " Scaramouche was definitely up to something.
"She is coming tomorrow. You must have misread the letter. " He said with a smug smile.
"But here it says 2-" He snatched the letter from my hands before I could confirm.
"It's 1 day, she will be here tomorrow." He persisted.
This was rather odd. He wasn't one too overlook such important details like dates and times. I wanted to correct him but he still had that smug look on his face which led me to believe that he had other plans in mind.
And my suspicions were right because when we got to Ritou, there was no sign of Signora.
"Uhm, where is she? Is she late? "
"You are either really gullible or you trust me too much. " He sighed with his hands on his hips.
"I knew it. So why are we here a day early? " He was right, I did trust him too much.
He didn't reply as he took off his hat and extravagant ornaments and left it on the waverider before jumping onto the shore.
"No questions. You will be pleasantly surprised, I promise. " He smirked as he extended his hand.
I was still a little suspicious of what his plans were but like I said, I was too trusting, so I took his hand with a small smile. He pulled me along till we were in Inazuma city. I realized that he had taken off his hat and ornaments so that he wouldn't stand out among the crowd. I was still in my Liyue style robes so I was getting a few stares. He took me to Uuyu restaurant and sat me down at a table.
"Get whatever you like. " Was all he said as he sat down on the seat on the other side of the table.
This made me more confused. What was he really up to? Was he perhaps planning to coax me into doing something for him? In the end I ended up ordering a bowl of tonkatsu ramen and it was a fine choice as it tasted absolutely delicious. I saw him silently watch me eat with that usual smirk on his face.
